A native of Fogelsville, Pa., Kathleen (Kate) Hickes is the daughter of Mary Ellen Hickes. She graduated from Parkland High School and joined the Bucknell women’s rowing team as a novice. Majoring in international relations and Spanish, Kate graduated as a four-time member of the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll and the Bucknell University Dean’s List, and a two-time CRCA National Scholar Athlete. Additionally, she earned All-Patriot League Honors in 2014 and 2015.
In her time on the Bucknell women’s rowing team, Kate was a coxswain on three Patriot League Championship boats, earning a gold medal in the Varsity Four during her sophomore year and a silver medal in the Varsity Eight during her junior and senior seasons. Kate also earned a silver medal in the Varsity Four and Varsity Eight during her sophomore and senior seasons at the Dad Vail Regatta. Outside of rowing, Kate was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority and Speak Up Bucknell.
