No. 20 Loyola Tops Bucknell Men's Lacrosse Behind Big Second Half

BALTIMORE – No. -/20 Loyola toppled the Bucknell men's lacrosse team, 13-9, behind a big second half on Saturday afternoon at the Ridley Athletic Complex.
The Greyhounds (3-4, 2-0 PL) closed the game on an 8-1 run to erase the Bison's (6-2, 0-2 PL) 8-5 lead and emerge victorious.
Bucknell built its advantage behind a five-goal run that stretched from the second quarter's 5:27 mark to the third frame's 10:40 mark. Connor Davis gave the Bison plenty of momentum entering the intermission, netting the first half's final goal with just five seconds remaining on the clock to make it a 7-5 game.
Davis then extended Bucknell's lead to 8-5 early in the third quarter. Loyola ultimately scored that frame's final five goals as part of its game-deciding 8-1 run.
For the Bison, Davis and Dutch Furlong each netted two goals while Alston Tarry contributed three points (1g-2a). In his first collegiate start, Rich O'Halloran made 14 saves, bringing his week total to 24 following his 10-stop outing against Penn State; he also tied Cam Doolan for the team lead with four ground balls.
Defensively, Reid Delanois filled the stat sheet with a game-best three caused turnovers and three ground balls. Frankie Higgins, Danny Striano and Travis Talarico each collected three ground balls, with Higgins and Striano also causing a turnover.
Eight different Greyhounds found the back of the net, with Seth Higgins recording a hat trick along with three helpers. Bailey Savio won 13 of 23 faceoffs and collected a game-best nine ground balls while Sam Shafer stopped 13 shots. Payton Rezanka caused two turnovers and added four ground balls.
Loyola led in shots (41-40), shots on goal (27-22), ground balls (42-30) and faceoffs (15-11). Both of Bucknell's losses this season have come to ranked opponents; the Bison previously dropped a 12-7 decision to then No. 17/16 Boston University on March 12.
Bucknell next hosts Colgate under the lights on March 26 at 7 p.m.
