About the Bison
- Bucknell begins a four-match homestand this weekend when Navy and American visit Davis Gym on Friday and Saturday, respectively. The two teams have accounted for seven of the last eight Patriot League titles.
- Bucknell suffered a pair of losses to Lafayette and Lehigh last weekend, falling 3-0 in each match. Junior Lisa Zoch and sophomore Catherine Jamison had 16 kills each over the two matches, and Zoch hit .240 or better in both. Rookie Jordan Hardy led the team with 27 combined digs, and Valentina Feigl led the Bison in blocks.
- The Bison have dropped five of their last six matches, but the team picked up a 3-1 win over Holy Cross in Patriot League play. Bucknell is one of five Patriot League teams with one win in league play, and four teams have three victories.
- Bison rookie Jen Sivak sits fourth in the Patriot League with a .287 hitting percentage. She's second on the roster with 29 blocks this season.
- Jamison is sixth in the league with a .263 hitting percentage and seventh in kills per set (3.08). Jamison has posted double-digit kills seven times this season, including in three of the last four matches. She registered a season-high 18 kills in the win over Holy Cross on Sept. 18.
- First-year Libero Joran Hardy ranks fifth in digs (3.91/S) in the Patriot League.
- Bucknell entered league play 4-5 following three non-conference tournaments. Bucknell went 2-1 in the season-opening Delaware State tournament, 1-2 at the Penn tournament, and 1-2 at the Cornell Invitational. Bucknell has played two five-setters and has one 3-0 sweep this season.
- Bucknell played a truncated season in the spring due to the COVID-19 pandemic and went 1-3 against Patriot League opponents.
- Head coach Tyler Hagstrom is in his second season with the Bison. He previously served as assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Princeton from 2016 to 2019.
- The Bison returned 13 letterwinners and welcomed four newcomers to the roster, bringing the team total to 17. An outside hitter, a middle blocker and a pair of liberos make up the rookie class, which has seen plenty of playing time through the first three weekends of the season. Hagstrom also added two new assistants, Erin Kretzschmar and Jeremy Young, to the coaching staff.
Scouting Navy/Series History
- The Navy Midshipmen are 5-7 (1-2 PL) and are sixth in Patriot League standings. The Mids went 1-1 last weekend, defeating Colgate 3-0 and falling to Army 3-1. They opened league play with a 3-0 loss to first-place Loyola (Md.).
- Navy was picked to finish fourth in the Patriot League preseason poll. The program has posted winning records in each of the last five seasons, finishing fourth or better over that span. The Mids won the Patriot League title in 2018.
- Navy's kills leader is Jamie Llewellyn, who has 134 (2.65/S) on the season. The sophomore totaled 26 kills and a .339 hitting percentage over two matches last weekend. She also leads the Patriot League with 21 service aces this fall.
- Sophomore middle blocker Maggie Bodman leads the Mids and ranks ninth in the Patriot League with her 0.88 blocks per set. She posted a combined eight block assists and one block solo in matches against Colgate and Army last weekend. Her six total blocks against the Raiders were a season high.
- Navy's 1.88 services aces per set lead the league, and senior outside hitter Cami Herman joins Llewellyn among the top five league-leaders in the category with 15 on the season.
- The Mids are guided by head coach Paco Labrador, who is in his fourth season with the team. He's compiled a 49-29 record at Navy and a 504-100 overall mark in his 18 years as a head coach.
- Bucknell is 22-35 in all-time meetings with Navy, dating back to 1981. The two teams did not play during the 2020-21 season, and the Mids have won the last nine matchups. Bucknell's last win in the series was a 3-2 victory at home in 2015. The Bison are 11-16 all-time at home against Navy.
