Women's Rowing Wraps Up Competition at Clemson Invitational

CLEMSON, S.C. (Lake Hartwell) – Bucknell women's rowing's varsity eight and second varsity eight crews completed competition at the competitive Clemson Invitational Sunday morning. The two-day, three-session event featured more than 20 total teams, including nine that were ranked in the final CRCA poll of 2014.
Both Bison boats raced twice on Saturday with the highlight of the day being the varsity eight finishing one spot ahead of No. 20 Minnesota in the morning race. The varsity eight in a later race was two spots (and more than 10 seconds) ahead of Penn, marking just the second time in program history it had beaten the Quakers.
Just about 12 hours after completing their last race Saturday, both Bison boats were back in the water on Sunday morning. The varsity eight placed sixth in its event, beating seventh-place Dartmouth by more than six seconds. Bucknell was one spot behind Duke, while Indiana was victorious.
The second varsity eight placed seventh in its race, crossing the line one spot behind Dartmouth. Indiana won that race as well.
“The women are excited to be here and are doing their best to make the most of the opportunity to race some of the best crews in the country,” praised Bison head coach Stephen Kish following Saturday's racing.
Bucknell will hold its lone home event of the spring season next Saturday, April 25, when it hosts Delaware and UConn on the Susquehanna River. Start time is 9 a.m.
