Bucknell at a Glance
- The Bison head to Annapolis on Saturday morning to face Navy in a rematch of the 2025 Patriot League Tournament final. The Bison avenged a regular-season loss to the Midshipmen with a 4-1 win in the title match, clinching Bucknell's first league championship since 1991. It was also Bucknell's first win over Navy in 53 all-time meetings.
- Bucknell brings a two-match winning streak to Annapolis. Most recently, the Bison outlasted Colgate 5-2 on Senior Day in the final home match of the season. The Raiders won the doubles point and were also given a win at No. 3 singles when Liam Kilmer had to retire after winning the first set. Bucknell won at each of the other five singles spots, with Will Robinson clinching it at No. 6.
- Prior to the Colgate match, coach Jason Cohen recognized the record-setting senior class of Oscar Bain Moreno de Vega, Brendan McDonald, Adam Stavrakas, and Amar Tahirovic. This group has become the winningest class in program history. The March 29 win over Villanova was the 60th dual win over the last four years, surpassing the previous mark of 59 set by John Scarborough, who was the lone senior in the Class of 1998.

- Bucknell has won five of the 10 Patriot League Player of the Week awards this spring, with Tahirovic winning three and Stavrakas and Liam Kilmer one each. Tahirovic has claimed the honor a record nine times in his career, while Stavrakas has earned five career citations.
- Tahirovic continues to lead the Bison with a 26-7 singles record and a 21-6 mark in doubles. Tahirovic has broken Nick Bybel's school record for combined career wins, and he is three away from Bybel's record of 112 singles wins.
- Kilmer is 18-9 in singles this season.
- Stavrakas has won four straight singles matches to get to 14-7 on the season.
- Brendan McDonald has a team-high 22 doubles wins against only six losses. Earlier this spring, McDonald became Bucknell's all-time leader in doubles wins. He is 95-35 in his career. Ryan Sandburg '09 held the previous record with 87 doubles wins.
- Tahirovic and McDonald came one win away from an NCAA doubles bid with a big run at the ITA Conference Masters in San Diego. They won the Patriot League qualifier and then beat pairs from Boise State, UC Santa Barbara and Presbyterian to reach the semifinals. McDonald was honored with the ITA Sportsmanship Award at that event.
- Tahirovic also represented the Patriot League in singles at the ITA Conference Masters, where he beat reigning Big East Player of the Year Alejandro Gandini of DePaul in the first round before falling to Martin Birisiouk of N.C. State in three sets in the round of 16. Earlier in the fall, he played in the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla., where he dropped tight matches to opponents from TCU and Baylor, and he won twice in the main draw at the ITA Northeast Regional at Princeton.
- Navy comes in with a 19-17 dual-match record. With a 16-man roster, the Midshipmen often split their squad and play two matches on one competition date.
- In Patriot League play, Navy has beaten Boston University and Loyola by 7-0 counts, and the Mids dropped a 4-3 decision at Lehigh.
- Herrick Legaspi typically plays No. 1 singles in Navy's top lineup, and he is 18-10 on the season with a 12-5 record in dual matches.
- J.J. Etterbeek leads the team in singles wins with a 21-10 record.
- Bucknell and Navy played a number of head-to-head matches in three different events during the fall tournament season: the River City Open, the Patriot League Qualifier for the ITA Conference Masters, and the Navy Invitational. Bucknell was 8-3 in singles and 3-3 in doubles in those matches. At the PL tourney, Amar Tahirovic defeated Etterbeek 6-1, 6-1 in the quarterfinals, and Adam Stavrakas beat Legaspi 6-4, 6-7, 6-3 in the semis.
- The Bison are 1-52 all-time in dual matches against Navy, although they are on a one-match winning streak.
- Last season, Navy won 4-2 in Lewisburg in the regular season, but the Bison came back 16 days later on the same courts and won 4-1 in the Patriot League Tournament final. A big key for the Bison was Liam Kilmer flipping a regular-season loss to Luke Garner into a postseason win at No. 3 singles, and Oscar Bain provided the clinching point with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Jake Young at No. 4.
- Bucknell wraps up the regular season next Saturday at Lehigh at 1 p.m. The Mountain Hawks are 10-7 overall and 3-0 in the Patriot League, and they will play Army, Boston University, and Lafayette before the Bison come to Bethlehem.
- Lehigh will also host the Patriot League Tournament Apr. 23-26. There is still much to be determined when it comes to tournament seeding. Five teams have zero or one loss in league play, but there is not a full round robin in men's tennis so seeding will ultimately be determined by the league office.
