WEST POINT, N.Y. – Bucknell senior Liam Kilmer took the first set from top-seeded Alex Van Lumich in the championship match of the Patriot League qualifier for the ITA Conference Master's Championship, but the Lehigh senior came from behind for a 5-7, 6-3, 6-2 win on Sunday afternoon at West Point.
Kilmer, the No. 4 seed, had dropped only one set in wins over opponents from Holy Cross, Boston University, and Army, but he fell just short of giving Bucknell a third straight singles champion in this event.
Van Lumich, who also won the doubles title earlier in the day, will represent the Patriot League at the ITA Conference Masters in Rome, Ga., on Nov. 5-8, where four singles players and two doubles teams will automatically qualify for the NCAA Championships.
Bucknell has one more fall event remaining on the schedule, the Navy Invitational Nov. 6-8 in Annapolis, Md.
