Bucknell Women's Tennis Hosts Mercyhurst and Temple

LEWISBURG, Pa. — Bucknell women's tennis is set to host a full weekend of home Bison tennis as they take on Mercyhurst on Saturday, Feb. 7 at 1 p.m. and Temple on Sunday, Feb. 8 at noon in the Central PA Tennis Center.
The Bison are entering the matches 3-0 after putting together a perfect first weekend of spring play with two 4-3 victories over Saint Joseph's on the road and Mount St. Mary's at home.

Bucknell's Last Time Out:
- The Bison won both of their contests in their last weekend out as they defeated Saint Joseph's on the road 4-3 and Mount St. Mary's in Williamsport 4-3.
- In the match against Saint Joseph's, with the score tied 3-3 and one singles match to go, Bucknell captain Mirra Manolov defeated Amari O'Brien on court five to earn the Bison its first win of the spring, 4-3 over Saint Joseph's on Friday morning..Bucknell opened the morning by securing the doubles point. Manolov and Jaycie Mair got the first win of the day as they defeated Elena Fleming and Claudia Perez-Garcia 6-1 on court two. Cameron King and Natalie Devraj then secured the doubles point with a win on court three over Elena Fleming and Claudia Perez Garcia 7-5. Rounding out doubles play, the Hawks found its lone doubles win on court one as Wiktoria Czerny and Victoria Tracey defeated Riley Jennings and Abby Platt 7(7) - 6(5). Saint Joseph's tied the match 1-1 as Elena Fleming defeated Mair in the court four singles match in two straight sets (6-2, 6-2). The Bison then took a 2-1 lead on the conclusion of the next match where Tori Allen defeated Tracey on court three in two sets (6-4, 6-4). The Hawks came back with a court one win as Czerny defeated Platt in three sets (3-6, 6-3, 10-2) and then took a 3-2 lead with a court two win as Valeria Casusol defeated Riley Jennings in three sets (3-6, 6-4, 13-11). Mariana Shulman tied the match back up at 3-3 as she won on court six in two sets (7-5, 6-1). With it all coming down to the court five singles matchup between Manolov and O'Brien, the captain brought home the win for the Bison with a 6-4, 7-5 victory.
- Against Mount St. Mary's, Cameron King won a hard-fought, three-set match on court five to clinch a win for Bucknell women's tennis on Saturday afternoon as it defeated Mount St. Mary's 4-3 in its spring home-opener. Mount St. Mary's opened the match with an early 1-0 as they secured the doubles point with wins on courts one and two as Pescatore and Tang defeated Abby Platt and Riley Jennings 6-4 and Barlini and Perkins defeated Jaycie Mair and Mirra Manolov 6-4. Natalie Devraj and King earned Bucknell's lone doubles win with a 6-2 victory over Tsakiri and Trolese on court three. Bucknell then won two singles matches back-to-back to take a 2-1 lead as Tori Allen defeated Tsakiri in two sets (6-4, 6-0) on court three and Abby Platt defeated Tang in two sets (6-4, 6-3) on court one. The Mount tied it on the next match to finish on court six. Baruni defeated Devraj in three sets after Devraj got out to an early lead in the series (0-6, 6-1, 6-2). Mount St. Mary's then regained the lead when Trolese won the court four match over Mair in two sets (7-5, 6-4). Down by two with two matches left, the Bison relied on Riley Jennings and Cameron King to bring home the second win of the weekend. Jennings tied the match up at three with a court two win over Perkins (3-6, 6-4, 6-2), so it all came down to the court five match between Rosenbach and King. King won the first set 6-3, but Rosenbach responded with a hard fought second set that went into extra points (7(3)- 6). It all came down to the third set to determine which team would take home the win and King was able to grab the third set 6-4 to earn the win for the Bison.

- Bucknell most recently went 2-0 on its spring opening weekend defeating Mercyhurst and Mount St Mary's both 4-3 with the court five match being the clincher.
- At the ITA Conference Masters Championship, Abby Platt made it to the quarterfinal round, Riley Jennings was eliminated in the round-of-16 and the doubles group of Platt and Jennings lost in their quarterfinals match.
- Bucknell played in one dual match in the fall with the Bison coming out on top of Millersville 5-2, winning all doubles matches and four-of-six singles matches.
- The Bison played three tournaments in the fall, one at home and two on the road. Bucknell tested out doubles teams in the fall tournaments in order to finalize the groups heading into the spring season.
- Bucknell women's tennis ended the 2024-25 season with a heartbreaking 4-3 loss in the quarterfinal round of the Patriot League Championships to Lehigh.
- The team landed two players on the All-Patriot League squad; Whitney King earned a first-team nod and Abby Platt earned second-team honors.
- Heading into the 2025-26 season, the Bison had to restructure their lineup after losing three integral players to graduation in Whitney King, Anna Lajos and Caroline Marcus, who were all in the lineup last season.
- Seniors Abby Platt and Mirra Manolov have been named captains for the 2025-26 season.
- Outside of Platt earning Second Team All-Patriot League last season, she has also found her way onto the record book ahead of her senior season. The Texas native currently ranks 11th in Bucknell history for career doubles victories (60), is tied for 27th in career singles victories (45), ranks 19th in career combined victories (105) and is tied for 10th in single-season doubles victories (22). Last season, Platt went 10-15 in the second spot for singles play. Platt and King were doubles partners and went 18-8 in the one spot. Platt has been doubles partners with King since she first arrived as a freshman in 2022 and will now be looking for a new partner to finish out her career.
- Last season, Manolov went 7-8 overall in singles on courts four and six and finished with an overall 5-3 record in doubles with four different partners.
- Overall, Bucknell returned seven players from last season, despite losing three of their regulars in the lineup. Platt and Manolov were the returning seniors to the squad. The Bison return two juniors to the squad from last season in Tori Allen and Jaycie Mair.
- Allen played across courts two, three and four last year. She went 10-14 overall in singles and 7-11 in doubles with five different partners. Mair competed across courts three, four and five in 2024-25. She went 10-14 in singles and 7-10 in doubles.
- At the sophomore level, Bucknell returned three athletes in Riley Jennings, Natalie Devraj and Cameron King.
- Riley Jennings had a solid freshman campaign as she went 11-3 overall in singles across courts four, five and six. The North Carolina native went undefeated in Patriot League singles with a 6-0 record and was undefeated in court six singles with a 9-0 record. Jennings finished 9-9 overall in doubles with a dual doubles record of 8-7 across courts two and three with three different partners. She ended the 2024-25 season on a seven-match singles winning streak.
- Devraj went 8-3 overall in singles across courts four, five and six. She finished 7-5 overall in doubles on court three with four different partners. Cameron King went 8-2 overall in singles across courts five and six. She finished 11-1 overall in doubles on across courts two and three with five different partners.
- The Bison welcomed a freshman class of three this fall; Summer Even-Esh, Katherine Purpura and Mariana Shulman.
Mercyhurst at a Glance
- This will be the first match of the Lakers spring season as they currently sit with a clean 0-0 record, after taking part in fall tournament play.
- Mercyhurst athletes competed in four fall invitationals before a group of four represented the team at the ITA Northeast Regional Championships; Daria Rogova, Simone Mercier, Celeste Davis and Kiersten Brown.
- At ITA's Rogova fell in the Round of 64, Davis fell in the Round of 32 qualifier and the doubles team of Rogova and Davis fell in the Round of 32. The doubles team of Brown and Mercier fell in the Round of 64.
Temple at a Glance
- The Owls enter the contest 1-3 overall after dropping both contests of its opening weekend to Northwestern and VCU and splitting its second weekend of play with a loss at West Virginia and most recently a tough win over Cleveland State.
- Temple is coming off of its one win of the season, a 4-3 victory against Cleveland State. In the contest, Irmak Ozturk won her singles match in two sets and then teamed up with Tianni Zhou in doubles, blanking Cleveland State.
- Maria Christofourdou, Nina Andreoni and Maria Martinez joined Ozturk to deliver all four match wins for Temple, marking the team's first win of the spring season.

The Bison women will host two more matches at the Central PA Tennis Center. On Friday, Feb. 13 at 6 p.m., Bucknell will take on Saint Francis and then on Saturday, Feb. 14 at 1 p.m., the Bison will face Villanova.
