Women's Tennis Moves to 5-0 with Win Over Mercyhurst Saturday

LEWISBURG, Pa. — Bucknell women's tennis moved to 4-0 on the season as it defeated Mercyhurst 6-1 on Saturday, with Jaycie Mair clinching the victory.
The Bison opened the contest strongly as they went 3-0 in doubles play to earn the doubles point and a 1-0 lead. Abby Platt and Riley Jennings defeated Daria Rogova and Simone Mercier 6-2 on court one, Mair and Mirra Manolov defeated Kiersten Brown and Ellyana Jacobs 6-1 on court two and Natalie Devraj and Cameron King defeated Celeste Davis and Mollie Gray 6-2 on court three.
The first three singles matches went all Bucknell's way with Jaycie Mair's court four, two set win (6-2, 6-1) clinching the Bison's fourth consecutive win. Jennings defeated Mercier in two sets (6-0, 6-4) on court two and Tori Allen defeated Brown in comeback fashion on court three in three sets (1-6, 6-4, 6-1). The next singles match to finish was the court one match between Platt and Rogova, where Rogova won in three sets (3-6, 7-5, 4-6).. That win would prove to be the lone point for Mercyhurst as King and Manolov would go on to win both of their singles matches in two sets. King defeated Davis 6-3, 6-2 and Manolov finished off the afternoon with a shutout win (6-0, 6-0) on court six).
The Bison will take to the courts tomorrow, Sunday, Feb. 8 at noon as they host Temple in Williamsport looking to go 5-0.
