
Bison Rowers Compete at 50th Annual Women’s Eastern Sprints

COMPLETE RESULTS
WORCESTER, Mass. – The Bucknell rowing team sent four boats to Lake Quinsigamond for the 50th Annual Women's Eastern Sprints on Sunday. A large, deep field included five top-20 teams along with Patriot League rivals Boston University, Colgate, Georgetown, and Holy Cross. Both of Bucknell's eights were victorious in Third Level Finals, and the Second Varsity Four qualified for the Petite Final.
In the closest race of the day, Bucknell's Varsity Eight won a photo finish over Drexel in the Third Level Final. Bucknell's time of 7:18.447 was only a fraction of a second ahead of the Dragons' 7:18.466. Colgate, Massachusetts, Holy Cross, and Temple rounded out the race. Bucknell placed fifth in its morning preliminary heat, ahead of Temple, and behind Radcliffe, Dartmouth, Cornell, and Rhode Island. Rutgers posted a six-second win over runner-up Brown in the Grand Final.
Bucknell's Second Varsity Eight, the reigning Patriot League Boat of the Week won the Third Level Final after finishing fifth in its morning heat. The Bison outrowed UConn by nearly four seconds to win their afternoon race. Holy Cross, UMass, Marist, and Temple rounded out the Third Level Final. Brown won the Grand Final.
The Bison Varsity Four placed fifth in its morning heat, ahead of Temple and Colgate and behind Brown, Dartmouth, Boston College, and Michigan State. Bucknell was placed in the Third Level Final and was runner-up to Cornell. The Bison nosed out UConn and Holy Cross and also finished ahead of George Washington and Temple. Rutgers claimed the Grand Final in a photo finish ahead of Radcliffe.
Bucknell's Second Varsity Four finished fourth in its heat and fifth in the Petite Final. In the morning prelims, the Bison finished 17 seconds ahead of Rhode Island and behind Radcliffe, Columbia, and Boston College. Later in the day, the 2V4+ defeated George Washington and placed behind Northeastern, Cornell, UMass, and Boston College. Rutgers won the Grand Final.
The Bison will now prepare for the Patriot League Championships, which will be contested on May 16 on the Cooper River in Cherry Hill, N.J.
