Bucknell at a Glance
- Bucknell steps away from Patriot League play this week with a Tuesday afternoon contest at Le Moyne, followed by Saturday's neutral-site game against Bryant at Weldon E. Howitt Middle School on Long Island. Note the start time of the Le Moyne game has moved up to 3 p.m.
- The Bison will have an opportunity to get right back on the field after a tough 12-11 overtime loss to Loyola on Saturday. Bucknell surged ahead with a big second quarter, but the Greyhounds scored the final two goals in regulation and another in OT.
- Despite the loss, it was a milestone day for senior Connor Davis, who took over sole possession of Bucknell's career goals record. Davis tied Justin Zackey's 31-year-old record with his 138th goal in the Lehigh game on March 22, and his first-quarter goal against Loyola gave him the record all to himself. He went on to finish with three goals and two assists in the game.
- Davis now has 33 goals and 10 assists on the season. His 3.30 goals per game rank second in the Patriot League to Army's Jackson Eicher (3.50) and seventh nationally.
- Davis' 141 goals are fourth-most among all active Division I players. Cornell's CJ Kirst has 214, followed by Princeton's Coulter Mackesy with 154 and Pratt Reynolds of Siena with 147. Davis has averaged just under a hat trick (2.94 goals per game) over his career.
- Michael Meyer (20-28-48) ranks third in the Patriot League and sixth nationally with 2.80 assists per game. Meyer, who recently eclipsed the 100-point mark for his career, is fifth in the PL in points per game at 4.80.
- After missing his first two seasons with injuries, Owen Kovacs has emerged as another top scoring threat on the attack unit. Kovacs has started the last five games and now has 14 goals and three assists on the season. He has scored at least one goal in all but one game, including some spectacular shots. Both of his tallies against Lehigh were behind-the-back attempts, with the first of the two landing him No. 1 on the Patriot League's "Top 3 Plays of the Week" segment.
- Bucknell ranks 12th nationally in scoring at 13.4 goals per game.
- Nine Bison have reached double-digit points this season. In addition to Meyer, Davis, and Kovacs, other top scorers are Will Hopkins (12-11-23), Luke Brunner (12-4-16), Peter Grandolfo (9-5-14), Anthony Panetti (7-7-14), Sean Berrigan (8-8-14), and Cam Doolan (10-3-13).
- Sophomore Colin McLoy had his best game of the season at the faceoff X against Loyola. He finished 14-for-25 with a career-high eight ground balls.
- Close defenseman Will Pickering leads the team with 18 caused turnovers to go with 19 ground balls. Pickering ranks fifth in the Patriot League in CTs with 1.80 per game.
- Bucknell's man-up unit is 15-for-34 (.441) on the season. That figure ranks 17th nationally and fourth in the Patriot League.
- The Bison have done a good job taking care of the ball, as they lead the league in fewest turnovers with 13.80 per game. That is the fourth-best mark in the nation. Â
- Goalie Luke Renaud stopped a season-high 17 shots against Loyola. He made 11 saves in the second half of a tight game, including three big ones in the final 90 seconds to help force overtime.
- Head coach Frank Fedorjaka is in his 20th season as Bucknell's head coach. After two stints as an assistant under Hall-of-Famer Sid Jamieson, Fedorjaka succeeded Jamieson after his retirement in 2006. Jamieson founded Bucknell's varsity lacrosse program in 1968, and Bucknell has had only two head coaches in the 57-year history of the program.   Â
- The Dolphins are in the midst of a good season, and they bring a three-game winning streak into Tuesday's contest. Le Moyne is 7-3 overall and 4-0 in the Northeast Conference after beating Wagner 9-4 on Saturday.
- Le Moyne is 0-2 against the Patriot League this season, with the losses coming to Lafayette (15-4) and Navy (8-5).
- Defense has been the key to Le Moyne's success. The Dolphins allow only 8.6 goals per game, and goalie Lucas Winger has an outstanding .669 save percentage since taking over as the starter five games ago.
- Ethan Loun leads the team with 22 points on 12 goals and 10 assists. Loun is coming off a big day against Wagner with four goals and three assists. Thomas Berry and Zachary Delaney have 14 goals apiece.
- The Bison and Dolphins met for the first time last season in Lewisburg, and Bucknell won a defensive struggle 7-5.
- Jaz Zanelli made a career-high 18 saves on a rainy night at Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium. Sean Berrigan, Peter Grandolfo, and Connor Davis scored twice each for the Bison, and Hans Huber added a goal as well.Â
- The Bison take on Bryant on Saturday in Farmingdale, N.Y. Bucknell is 7-1 all-time against the Bulldogs, but this will be the first meeting between the two teams since 2020.
