About the Bison
- Bucknell plays its final home match of the season on Friday when it hosts Lehigh in Davis Gym. The Bison then visit Lafayette Sunday. Friday is also Senior Day for the Bison, and they'll be honoring the careers of Jennie Burke, Emma Buchanan, Vittoria Sottani and Angela Pieroni. Bucknell's senior class has contributed to 29 victories during their careers
- The Bison went 0-2 last weekend against American and Navy. Bucknell battled in the American match, but ultimately fell 3-1. Saturday's match at Navy was a 3-0 loss.
- The Bison have several players ranking in the Patriot League's top six in statistical categories with three matches remaining. Jen Sivak is fifth in hitting percentage at .275, Sarah Ramirez is fifth in assists with 8.65 per set, and libero Jordan Hardy is sixth in digs with 4.06 per set.
- Catherine Jamison is ninth in the league with 2.90 kills per set, and Sivak is 10th in blocks (0.82 per set).
- Bucknell entered league play 4-5 following three non-conference tournaments. Bucknell wet 2-1 in the season-opening Delaware State tournament, 1-2 at the Penn tournament, and 1-2 at the Cornell Invitational. Bucknell has played two five-setters and has one 3-0 sweep this season.
- Bucknell played a truncated season in the spring due to the COVID-19 pandemic and went 1-3 against Patriot League opponents.
- Head coach Tyler Hagstrom is in his second season with the Bison. He previously served as assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Princeton from 2016 to 2019.
- The Bison returned 13 letterwinners and welcomed four newcomers to the roster, bringing the team total to 17. An outside hitter, a middle blocker and a pair of liberos make up the rookie class, which has seen plenty of playing time through the first three weekends of the season. Hagstrom also added two new assistants, Erin Kretzschmar and Jeremy Young, to the coaching staff.
Scouting Lehigh/Series History
- Lehigh is one spot above Bucknell with three Patriot League wins this season. The Mountain Hawks are 7-17 overall after defeating Loyola (Md.) on Saturday and losing to Navy on Sunday.
- The Mountain Hawks have been the second-best blocking team in the Patriot League this season, posting 2.13 per set. Sophomore Sophia Meagher and rookie Emily Stewart both rank top five in the category.
- Lehigh's Sabrina Lancaster and Megan Schulte rank ninth and 10th in the league in kills with 2.90 and 2.86 per set, respectively.
- Lehigh is led by fourth-year head coach Alexa Keckler, who is 44-48 (22-15 PL) during her tenure.
- Bucknell trails 28-54 in the all-time series with Lehigh, which dates back to 1978. Bucknell's last win in the series came in 2017.
- Bucknell fell 3-0 (25-18, 25-20, 25-15) on the road at Lehigh back on Sept. 26. Lisa Zoch and Catherine Jamison both finished with a team-high six kills, while the Mountain Hawks hit .231 and posted seven blocks.
Scouting Lafayette/Series History
- Lafayette is one of six teams to have clinched a spot in the Patriot League Tournament and is third in league standings with a 12-9 overall record and a 9-4 mark in Patriot League play. The Leopards earned a five-set victory over Loyola (Md.) on Friday before falling at American on Saturday of this past weekend.
- The Leopards lead the Patriot League in hitting percentage (.220), with three players among the top eight. They're also second in kills per set (13.58), with senior Leanna Deegan leading the league with 5.90 kills per set.
- Lafayette ranks second in the league with 12.51 assists per set. Sophomore Alyssa Vitale leads in that category with an 11.09 average.
- The Leopards are guided by third-year head coach and former Bucknell assistant Ryan Adams, who owns a 27-33 record at Lafayette.
- Bucknell leads 45-26 in the all-time series with Lafayette, dating back to 1978. Bucknell has won five of the last seven, but the Leopards have a two-match winning streak in the series.
- Lafayette won 3-0 (25-19, 25-21, 25-17) at Bucknell back on Sept. 24. The Leopards hit .339 and posted 13 blocks. Lisa Zoch and Catherine Jamison both posted 10 kills, and both hit .240 or better.
