About the Bison
- Bucknell plays the second half of a four-match homestand this weekend when it hosts Colgate and Loyola at Davis Gym. The Bison are facing two of the top three teams in Patriot League standings, and both have just one loss each in league play. Colgate and Loyola are the only remaining Patriot League teams the Bison have yet to play and round out the first half of the conference schedule. Colgate and Loyola will face one another on Friday before taking on the Bison.
- The Bison fell 3-0 to both Navy and American last weekend, giving them four consecutive losses since defeating Holy Cross on Sept. 18. Despite losing in straight sets, Bucknell's match against American was tightly contested. Bucknell lost 27-25 and 25-23 in the first two sets of the American match and posted hitting percentages above .330 in both.
- The Bison currently sit eighth in the Patriot League but have 10 regular season matches left to climb in the standings. Five of the 10 remaining matches will be played at home.
- Catherine Jamison led the Bison in kills in both matches over the weekend and has done so seven times this season. She posted double-digit kills over the weekend for the sixth and seventh times this season, and the sophomore ranks fifth in the Patriot League with 3.20 kills per set. She's also sixth in the league with a .270 hitting percentage, posting a .429 mark in the American match.
- Fellow sophomore Libby Nieporte also had a solid outing on Sunday, adding eight kills on a .368 hitting percentage vs. the Eagles. She slipped in seven digs as well.
- Setter Sarah Ramirez has climbed the Patriot League leaderboard in assists, ranking fifth with 8.83 per set. She had her third-highest assist total on Sunday with 37.
- The sophomore duo of Allie Lopez and Valentina Feigl has led the Bison in blocks throughout the season. Lopez sports a team-best 34 on the season, and Feigl has 26.
- First-year Libero Joran Hardy ranks sixth in digs (3.90/S) in the Patriot League. As a team, the Bison are third in the category with 14.73 per set.
- Bucknell entered league play 4-5 following three non-conference tournaments. Bucknell went 2-1 in the season-opening Delaware State tournament, 1-2 at the Penn tournament, and 1-2 at the Cornell Invitational. Bucknell has played two five-setters and has one 3-0 sweep this season.
- Bucknell played a truncated season in the spring due to the COVID-19 pandemic and went 1-3 against Patriot League opponents.
- Head coach Tyler Hagstrom is in his second season with the Bison. He previously served as assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Princeton from 2016 to 2019.
- The Bison returned 13 letterwinners and welcomed four newcomers to the roster, bringing the team total to 17. An outside hitter, a middle blocker and a pair of liberos make up the rookie class, which has seen plenty of playing time through the first three weekends of the season. Hagstrom also added two new assistants, Erin Kretzschmar and Jeremy Young, to the coaching staff.
Scouting Loyola/Series History
- The Greyhounds are in the midst of one of their best seasons in recent memory and are currently third in Patriot League standings with a 12-4 (4-1 PL) record.
