Men’s Tennis Has Winning Day at CMU Invite

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Bucknell men's tennis team took on Carnegie Mellon in Saturday's singles and doubles action at the CMU Invitational, and the Bison turned in a winning day against the highly ranked Division III squad. Bucknell won four of the seven singles matches and three of four doubles matches against the Tartans, and freshman Justin Yuan added one more singles win against an opponent from Duquesne.

After dropping three of their four doubles contests against Duquesne a day earlier, the Bison flipped the script on Saturday. The all-freshman tandem of Vlad Dombrovskyi and Jovan Morales won 6-4; senior Liam Kilmer and freshman Enoch Lin won 6-2, and junior Nelson Alapi and freshman Brady Friesen rolled 6-0.

Lin, Dombrovskyi, Friesen, and sophomore Tyler Bush all won their singles matches in straight sets. Lin downed Ian Miller 6-4, 7-5; Bush won 6-2, 6-4 over Michael Larionov; Dombrovskyi cruised to a 6-1, 6-2 win over Shaun Fernando; and Friesen defeated Theodore Gershon 6-3, 6-3.

Yuan came from a set down to beat Duquesne's Tancredi Alfano 4-6, 6-0, 10-5.

The hidden duals format tournament concludes on Sunday with the Bison taking on Edinboro starting at 9 a.m.
