Varsity Eight Posts Two More Wins Saturday at Cornell Double Duals

ITHACA, N.Y. – Bucknell's Varsity Eight continued its outstanding season with two more victories on Saturday at the Cornell Double Duals on Cayuga Inlet. The top Bison boat outrowed Delaware and Rhode Island in a pair of close races.

The 1V8+, coxed by Hattie Hopper and stroked by Evelyn Sherman, covered the 2,000-meter course in 6:32.6 in its morning race, edging Delaware by three seconds. The Bison went about a second faster (6:31.3) in the afternoon, also beating Rhode Island by a three-second margin.

Bucknell's Second Varsity Eight and Varsity Four dropped both of their races to Delaware and Rhode Island, but both improved their times in their second races. The Third Varsity Eight went up against Cornell twice and finished behind the Big Red.

Next up for Bucknell are the Women's Sprints on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass., on May 3.
