The Inside "Herd" on the Bison
- Bucknell dropped two of three games against Lafayette last weekend and fell to 3-6 in conference action.Â
- The Bison won the first game, 4-3. Bucknell jumped out to a 4-0 lead and Avery Powers and Nina Barrouk combined for the win/save combo.Â
- Barrouk moved to fourth in the single season lists and ninth in career rankings for saves (2).Â
- Lafayette rebounded to take the second game of the doubleheader 11-3 in six innings.Â
- The Leopards won the rubber match 6-2 on Sunday. Lafayette used Bucknell's game one trick and scored four runs to ride the momentum to its first series victory over the Bison since 2012.Â
- Bucknell hits .268 as a team with nine home runs and 51 doubles.Â
- Brooke Popella's 14 doubles lead the team and rank tied for tenth in Bucknell's single-season history.Â
- Barbara Jo Coppola smashed her second home run of the season in the series' third game. Coppola has been fantastic, batting .326 with 22 RBIs.Â
- The Nittany Lions are 26-15 overall but 7-8 in BIG 10 play. PSU swings some major bats, clubbing 58 home runs in 41 games. Two Penn State batters have smoked double-digit bombs: Allison Oneacre (14) and Brooke Klosowicz (12). The Lions' pitching staff truly lives by the committee approach. Four of the five pitchers have thrown 50+ innings and none of them have tossed more than 57 1/3 frames. McKenna Young is the staff ace, posting ten wins and four losses.Â
- Penn State owns a 35-9 record in a rivalry that dates back to 1986. Bucknell's last win came in 2019 with a 4-2 victory.Â
