Women's Tennis Travels to Hawaii for Three-Match Spring Break Slate

LEWISBURG, Pa. — Bucknell women's tennis is gearing up for its spring break slate of matches in Hawaii featuring two dual matches with the University of Hawaii in Honolulu on Sunday, March 8 at 6 p.m. (ET) and Wednesday, March 11 at 9 p.m. (ET) as well as a dual match against Chaminade on Monday, March 9 at 5 p.m. (ET).
The Bison are entering the slate 6-6 overall after going 1-2 on the weekend with a win over Duquesne and losses to Army and Michigan State.

Bucknell's Last Time Out:
- The Bison went 1-2 at home with a win over Duquesne and losses to Army and Michigan State.
- In the 4-3 win over Duquesne, Mirra Manolov clinched the 4-3 victory for Bucknell with her 1-6, 6-4, 6-3 win in the No. 4 singles spot. The Bison improved to 6-5 overall with the win. Bucknell dropped the doubles point with its lone win coming at the No.1 spot as Abby Platt and Riley Jennings defeated their opponents 6-3. After falling to 0-1 early Tori Allen took the first singles match of the day with a 6-1, 2-6, 6-3 win at the No. 3 spot. Duquesne's Badics then re-gained the lead for the Dukes with a win at the No. 2 spot, but Platt then won her No. 1 singles match 6-3, 6-4 to tie it back at 2-2. Duquesne re-gained the lead once again as Roka defeated Summer Even-Esh in the No. 6 singles match, but Cameron King tied the game at three apiece with her court five win 6-4, 6-3. With the match relying on Manolov in the No. 4 singles spot, the captain captured the Bison Win in three sets.
- In the 4-1 Patriot League loss to Army, despite taking both the No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles matches, Bucknell women's tennis lost its conference match and fell to 0-2 in Patriot League play.
- In its 5-2 loss to Michigan State, After dropping the doubles match at the No. 2 spot, the Bison took the matches on court one and court three to earn Bucknell the doubles point and an early 1-0 lead over the Spartans. Abby Platt and Riley Jennings completed the weekend sweep of doubles win as they took their third in a row, this time with a 6-4 victory over Morais and Parkins-Godwin. Following their win, Cameron King and Natalie Devraj defeated Blackford and Fazlagil 7-6(8) at the No. 3 spot. Michigan State then took five of the six singles matches of the night. The lone Bison victory in singles play came at the No. 6 spot as Devraj defeated Purser 7-5, 6-3 to earn an undefeated night against the Spartans with wins in doubles and singles play.

- Abby Platt earned Patriot League Women's Tennis Player of the Week (3/3) after going 5-1 overall in No. 1 singles and doubles play against Army, Duquesne and Michigan State.
- Mirra Manolov leads the Bison in singles wins this year with 12 overall and six dual singles wins across courts two, four, five and six.
- The doubles team of Abby Platt and Riley Jennings lead the team in overall doubles wins with 10 overall on court one; they have seven dual doubles victories.
- The doubles teams of Platt and Jennings and Cameron King and Natalie Devraj lead the Bison in dual doubles wins with seven each.
- Most recently, Bucknell went 1-2 on the weekend with a win over Duquesne (4-3) and losses to Army (4-1) and Michigan State (5-2).
- So far this spring season, the Bison have defeated Saint Joseph's, Mount St. Mary's, Merrimack, Duquesne and Mercyhurst. Bucknell has fallen to Boston U., Temple, Army, Michigan State, Saint Francis and Villanova.
- In the fall, at the ITA Conference Masters Championship, Abby Platt made it to the quarterfinal round, Riley Jennings was eliminated in the round-of-16 and the doubles group of Platt and Jennings lost in their quarterfinals match.
- Bucknell played in one dual match in the fall with the Bison coming out on top of Millersville 5-2, winning all doubles matches and four-of-six singles matches.
- The Bison played three tournaments in the fall, one at home and two on the road. Bucknell tested out doubles teams in the fall tournaments in order to finalize the groups heading into the spring season.
- Bucknell women's tennis ended the 2024-25 season with a heartbreaking 4-3 loss in the quarterfinal round of the Patriot League Championships to Lehigh.
- The team landed two players on the 2025 All-Patriot League squad; Whitney King earned a first-team nod and Abby Platt earned second-team honors.
- Heading into the 2025-26 season, the Bison had to restructure their lineup after losing three integral players to graduation in Whitney King, Anna Lajos and Caroline Marcus, who were all in the lineup last season.
- Seniors Abby Platt and Mirra Manolov have been named captains for the 2025-26 season.
- Outside of Platt earning Second Team All-Patriot League last season, she has also found her way onto the record book ahead of her senior season. The Texas native currently ranks 11th in Bucknell history for career doubles victories (60), is tied for 27th in career singles victories (45), ranks 19th in career combined victories (105) and is tied for 10th in single-season doubles victories (22). Last season, Platt went 10-15 in the second spot for singles play. Platt and King were doubles partners and went 18-8 in the one spot. Platt has been doubles partners with King since she first arrived as a freshman in 2022 and will now be looking for a new partner to finish out her career.
- The Bison welcomed a freshman class of three this fall; Summer Even-Esh, Katherine Purpura and Mariana Shulman.
Hawaii at a Glance
- The Rainbow Wahine enter the contest 4-4 overall after defeating Long Beach State at home to move to 2-0 in conference play.
- In their 5-2 win over Long Beach State, after dropping the doubles point, the Rainbow Wahine regrouped and powered through singles play, stringing together five straight victories to secure the win over the Beach.
- Hannah Galindo lead Hawaii in overall singles and dual singles wins with six across courts five and six.
- The doubles teams of Makeilah Nepomuceno and Galindo (No. 2) and the doubles team of Grete Gull and Sophie Rachor (No.1) lead the team in overall and dual doubles wins with three each.
Chaminade at a Glance
- The Silverswords enter the match 0-3 with three straight loses to Hawaii Pacific, Dominican (CA) and Hawaii Hilo all 7-0.
- In its last time out, the Chaminade University women's tennis team faced off against the University of Hawai'i Hilo, dropping a 7-0 decision at the Donald A. Andrews Diamond Head Tennis Center.
- The Vulcans (1-0) took the doubles point, winning the second and third pairings. The 'Swords had a competitive match at the No. 1 spot with Berylin Lau and Isabella Minaudo trailing 5-2 when the Vulcans clinched the point.
- In singles competition, Lau pushed Hilo's Johanna Roggenkamp in the top spot in the first set before falling 7-5. Roggenkamp took the second, 6-0, to win the match.
- Kirra Carvalho and Selena Buttery each had 6-1, 6-1 results in Singles 4 and 5. Hannah Lewis and Danica Palmer were in the No. 2 and 6 singles positions.

Bucknell will continue its Patriot League play with three-straight conference road matches as it looks for its first conference win of the season. First up for the Bison is an 11 a.m. match against Navy in Annapolis on Sunday, March 22.
