RESULTS
LA JOLLA, Calif. -- Patrick Pritsios matched his career best with a 2-under-par 70, helping the Bucknell men's golf team to a much-improved second round on Monday at the UC San Diego Invitational at Torrey Pines. After opening with a 306 a day earlier, the Bison compiled a 4-over 292 on Monday and move up one spot into 15th place.
Scores were better across the field in the second round, and Bucknell was no exception, as Pritsios, James Robbins (72), and Taylor Kuehn (73) all had strong afternoons on the Torrey Pines North Course. Pritsios started the day with a bogey on the 13th hole but had only two more blemishes on his card. He played the four par-5s in 4-under, highlighted by an eagle at the 536-yard 10th and birdies at 5 and 17. He also also birdied the short par-4 7th, part of a six-hole stretch where he shaved four strokes off his tally.
Robbins was the low Bison on Sunday with a 73, and he remains +1 for the tournament, which puts him in a tie for 33rd place. Robbins bookended his second round with birdies at 11 and 10, and he finished with three birdies and three bogeys on the way to a 72. Kuehn turned in one of his best rounds as a Bison with the 1-over 73. He had a tough mid-round stretch with four bogeys in a five-hole span before going on a heater later in the day. He went from 5-over to 1-over with a 3-2-2 run on holes 6, 7, and 8, keyed by an eagle-2 at No. 7, and then brought it home with three straight pars.
Bucknell also counted a 77 from Jack Hartman. Indie Hayden Quinn continued his strong showing at Torrey with a second straight 74.
Loyola Marymount is 15-under (561) through 36 holes after posting a 6-under 282 on Monday. UC Santa Barbara is seven shots back in second place, followed by Cal Baptist (571), UC San Diego (571), and Holy Cross (575). The Crusaders had the round of the day, a 12-under 276 with Alex Elia's 66 leading four under-par cards.
LMU's Nateeshvar Anatha Ganesh followed up his opening-round 66 with a bogey-free 65, and at 13-under he has a nine-shot lead heading into Tuesday's final round. Five players are tied for second at 4-under. Ganesh was 1-over after a double-bogey on his fifth hole on Monday, and since then he has made an eagle, 12 birdies, and no bogeys.
The third and final round gets going with a 10 a.m. Eastern (7 a.m. local) shotgun start on Tuesday morning.
