Barrickman Wins at Colgate in Collegiate Debut, Bison Place Fifth as Team

HAMILTON, N.Y. – Freshman Charlie Barrickman wasted no time entering the winner's circle, firing a third straight under-par round to claim medalist honors in his first collegiate start at Colgate's Alex Lagowitz Memorial. Jack Hartman also finished in red numbers as Bucknell finished a solid fifth in a 13-team field.
Barrickman shot 69-71-69 for a 7-under total of 209 at Seven Oaks GC. He punctuated his first career win with a birdie on his 54th hole, the par-5 fifth, which he birdied in all three rounds. The West Chester, Pa., native is Bucknell's first tournament champion since the fall of 2023, when Alex Creamean won the Veterans Intercollegiate. Creamean was the first Bison freshman ever to win an event, and now Barrickman is the second while becoming the first to do it in his collegiate debut. He also became the first Bucknell player to win Colgate's tournament since Brian Bartow in 2009.
Barrickman's first-round, 3-under 69 was the lowest in relation to par by a Bison freshman in his first career round. He started the final round two shots off the lead, and then battled a pair of Seton Hall players all day for the top spot. Barrickman began on the sixth hole and jumped out to a par-birdie-birdie start. He bogeyed the ninth, but that was his only blemish of the day. He ended a string of eight straight pars with a birdie at the par-5 18th to grab a one-shot lead over Will Hennessee. Still sitting on that slim lead heading into his final hole, Barrickman closed with a birdie while Hennessee parred his final hole, giving the Bison rookie a two-shot win. Seton Hall's Blake Goodnight and Villanova's Evan Rohde tied for third at 4-under.
As a team, Bucknell posted a 4-over total of 868 (290-291-287). The 1-under 287 in the final round was the second-lowest in the field. Seton Hall compiled an 853 total cruised to a 10-shot win over Saint Joseph's. Holy Cross and Colgate tied for third at 866, with the Bison two shots farther back in fifth. Penn (873), Villanova (874), St. Bonaventure (877), Cornell (882), and Canisius (882) rounded out the top 10.
Sophomore Jaxon Brown helped the Bison post the red team score with a career-best 1-under 71 on Sunday. Brown, who was the medalist in the team's qualifying tournament last week, made two birdies and only one bogey in his third round. Hartman made four birdies on Sunday on the way to an even-par 72, and his 1-under total over 54 holes was good for a T-14th finish.
Senior Taylor Kuehn was the fourth counter with a 75, and freshman Brad McDermott closed out his first collegiate tournament with a 77. Sophomore Henry Bolster, playing as an individual, finished with a 75.
Bucknell returns to action in two weeks at The Goat, hosted by Navy at the USNA Golf Course.
