About the Bison
- Bucknell is back in action this week for its second of five fall tournaments. The Bison head south to Annapolis, Md., for The Goat, Navy's annual fall tournament. In addition to Bucknell and Navy, Patriot League rivals Colgate, Holy Cross, and Lafayette will also be in the 13-team field.
- Bucknell's five-man lineup will feature freshman Charlie Barrickman, junior Jack Hartman, senior Taylor Kuehn, freshman Brad McDermott, and sophomore Henry Bolster. Freshman Conner Freedman will make his collegiate debut, playing as an individual.
- This will be a return close to home for Hartman, who is a Bethesda, Md., native.
- The Bison are coming off a strong season debut at Colgate's Alex Lagowitz Memorial. They finished fifth in a strong 13-team field, highlighted by Barrickman's two-shot win. As a team, Bucknell posted a 4-over total of 868 (290-291-287), capped by a 1-under final round.
- Barrickman posted three straight under-par rounds (69-71-69) for a 7-under total of 209. He is just the second Bucknell freshman ever to win a tournament, and the first to do it in his collegiate debut.
- Barrickman's first-round, 3-under 69 was the lowest in relation to par by a Bison freshman in his first career round. He started Sunday's final round two shots off the lead, and then battled a pair of Seton Hall players all day for the top spot. Barrickman, who qualified for the U.S. Amateur Championship earlier this summer, began on the sixth hole and jumped out to a par-birdie-birdie start. He bogeyed the ninth, but that was his only blemish of the day. He ended a string of eight straight pars with a birdie at the par-5 18th to grab a one-shot lead over Will Hennessee. Still sitting on that slim lead heading into his final hole, Barrickman closed with a birdie while Hennessee parred his final hole, giving the Bison rookie a two-shot win.
- Barrickman wasn't the only Bison to go low at Colgate. Hartman opened with a 1-under 71 and followed with a pair of even-par 72s. He finished T-14th at -1 for the tournament. Sophomore Jaxon Brown got off to a slow start but finished with a 71. Kuehn shot 72 in the second round.
- This is the third time Navy has hosted The Goat. Bucknell played in the previous two, finishing 10th in 2024 and 14th last season. The Bison shot 313-292-307 here a year ago. Hartman was the team's low man in T-30th place with rounds of 77-71-75. Kuehn (T-50th) and Bolster (T-71st) are also back in the field this year.
- Loyola won last year's tournament with rounds of 289-284-285, with runner-up Navy finishing five shots back. The Greyhounds are not in the field this year, and 2025 medalist Jack Tarzy of Navy (8-under 205) has graduated, so there will be new team and individual champions this weekend.
- The Bison return to action on Sept. 29-30 at the Matthews Auto Collegiate Golf Invitational, hosted by Binghamton at the Links at Hiawatha Landing in Apalachin, N.Y.
