LEWISBURG, Pa. – After posting a 2-under-par 278 total in the opening round, the Bucknell men's golf team could not keep up its birdie barrage over the final 18 holes on Tuesday, compiling a 290 while slipping from fifth place to 10th in an 18-team field at the Bucknell Invitational. Taylor Kuehn led the way with a second straight even-par 70 to finish in a tie for 18th place, and Charlie Barrickman also placed T-18th after shooting 66-74.
After Sunday's scheduled first round was rained out, Bucknell's five starters combined for 15 birdies on the way to a sub-par tally on Monday. That group managed six birdies on Tuesday, five of them coming on the front nine.
In addition to Kuehn's 70, Henry Bolster and Brad McDermott both shot 73, Barrickman carded a 74 on the heels of his terrific first-round 66, and Conner Freedman shot 75. Bucknell's three individuals all played well. Jack Hartman made a team-high five birdies and closed with a 72, Jaxon Brown carded a 74, and Hunter Duncan shot 77.
Led by individual champion Angad Singh, Fairleigh Dickinson pulled away for a nine-shot win over Colgate. The two teams started the day tied for the lead at 10-under, but FDU posted a 13-under 267 compared to Colgate's 276. Youngstown State (-5) and St. Bonaventure (-3) also finished in the red over 36 holes, while Rider and Robert Morris tied for fifth at even-par 560.
Singh led wire-to-wire after opening with a tournament-record and course-record-tying 63 on Monday. He followed with a 67 to finish at 10-under 130 for the week. Ryan Sam of Youngstown State and Alex Hill of Colgate tied for second at 7-under.
Bucknell has one more fall event remaining on the schedule. The Bison head to Wyncote GC for the Delaware Invitational on Oct. 19-20.
