Men’s Tennis Drops 6-1 Decision at Stetson

DeLAND, Fla. – The Bucknell men's tennis team ran into a strong Stetson squad and fell by a 6-1 count on Friday afternoon at the Mandy Stoll Tennis Center. Liam Kilmer won at No. 2 singles to account for the Bison point, and the top doubles tandem of Amar Tahirovic and Brendan McDonald also won their match.
Stetson (7-4) won at second and third doubles to clinch the point, and then Tahirovic and McDonald finished off a 6-4 win over Kartik Mandla and Alexandre Verlaguet.
Tahirovic posted his 191st career win, counting both singles and doubles, to bring him within one of the school record. But he will have to wait at least one more day to equal Nick Bybel's mark, as Verlaguet ended his 12-match singles winning streak with a 7-6, 6-4 verdict at No. 1.
Kilmer was a 6-4, 6-1 winner over Christian Kuehne on Court 2, but the Hatters won the bottom four matches in straight sets while conceding only 11 games.
Now 7-7 on the season, the Bison will wrap up their Florida swing on Sunday at Florida Gulf Coast at 10 a.m.
