Water Polo Continues Spring Break Trip at the Aztec Invite

LEWISBURG, Pa.- Bucknell women's water polo (10-6) completes its spring break trip with the Aztec Invitational on March 13-14. Bucknell will face some of California's finest teams, as the Bison challenge Whittier and #19 San Diego State on March 13 and #8 Long Beach State and #24Â Pomona-Pitzer on March 14. The SDSU game will be streamed on YouTube.Â

The Inside "Herd" on the Bison
- Bucknell began the California spring break trip with a decisive 16-1 victory over Occidental.Â
- Olivia Hopper and Gwen Kallmeyer led the Bison with three goals.Â
- 11 different Bison tallied goals, as the Tigers were helpless against the Orange & Blue attack.Â
- Olivia Hopper leads the team with 40 goals and 85 points.Â
- Tamara Torkos has supplied 172 saves and played every single minute in the cage.Â
- Whittier is 3-12Â and has not left the state of California. The Poets, alma mater of Richard Nixon, have mostly played Division III foes but occasionally have matched stanzas against Division I competition. They recently defeated Redlands 9-5
- SDSU sits #19 in the latest poll and owns a 11-7 record. The Aztecs have gone 3-7 against ranked foes, and like most ranked teams, are spotless against the unwashed masses. They have won three straight games, including a victory over #25 Pacific. Mimi Stoupas leads the squad with 56 goals.Â
- Long Beach State is 9-9 but ranked eighth in the current CWPA Top 25. The Beach has played a brutal schedule filled with top 10 foes and are 5-9 against ranked competition. Elisa Portillo's 43 goals pace the team.Â
- Ponoma-Pitzer is 10-11 and clings to #24 in the latest poll. Like most ranked Californian teams, they have faced a daunting schedule. The Sagehens recently defeated Cal Tech 22-6 and played Princeton to a 12-1 defeat. Mia Amberger's 29 goals lead the team.Â
