Bucknell Defeats Saint Francis 9-6 in Consolation Round of the CWPA Championships

ANN ARBOR, Mich.- Bucknell (13-11) bounced back on Saturday in the consolation round of the CWPA Championships with a 9-6 defeat of Keystone State rival Saint Francis (8-11). The Bison used a five-goal first quarter to keep the Red Flash at bay and Tamara Torkos collected 12 saves between the pipes.

Saint Francis scored first before the Bison tallied two goals. The Red Flash tied the game at 2-2 before three goals by freshmen Iris Hiskey and Lin Naraoka gave Bucknell a lead it would never yield.

Both teams traded goals in the second quarter for the 6-3 Bucknell advantage at halftime.

The Bison took a 7-3 lead on a Bella Schraa goal. The insurance proved decisive when the Red Flash uncorked a 3-0 run to cut the deficit to a goal. Bucknell answered 22 seconds later with an Addison Wedding goal. Schraa added another tally and the Red Flash exhausted their lightning bolts.

Bucknell faces Mercyhurst tomorrow in the fifth-place game at 9 a.m.
