RESULTS
LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell men's tennis team improved to 7-4 on the season with a 6-1 win over Duquesne on Saturday. An unseasonably warm late-February afternoon allowed the teams to play outdoors for the first time, and the Bison cruised behind five straight-set singles wins.
Bucknell won the doubles point thanks to a pair of 6-2 wins from Amar Tahirovic and Brendan McDonald at No. 1 and Nelson Alapi and Will Robinson at No. 3. Tahirovic, Robinson, and Alapi all followed with singles victories.
Tahirovic was tested at No. 1 by Enrique Lana but prevailed 7-6, 7-5 to improve to 20-5 on the season. Robinson was a 7-5, 6-3 winner over Arnau Anton Garcia at No. 5 singles, and Alapi downed Theodoros Papadopoulos 7-6, 6-2 at No. 6.
Also winning for the Bison were Liam Kilmer at No. 2, 6-3, 6-1 over Aril Kayra Tuna, and Oscar Bain at No. 3, 6-4, 6-4 over Alfrendo Vogelaar.
Next up for the Bison is a trip to Newark, N.J., to face a very good NJIT squad on Sunday at 2 p.m.
