Water Polo Closes Weekend with Loss to #14 Michigan

LEWISBURG, Pa.- Bucknell (7-5, 1-3 CWPA) finished the CWPA Conference Crossover weekend on Sunday with a 19-7 defeat to #14 Michigan (10-6, 3-0 CWPA). The Bison kept the game relatively close until a 6-0 third period sealed the win for the Wolverines.Â
Michigan suffocated Bucknell's offense, holding the Bison to a paltry 7-of-29 shooting, and keeping star attacker Olivia Hopper off the statsheet. Addison Wedding led the team with two goals.
The Maize & Blue bolted to a 4-0 lead before Wedding scored twice in the final minute of the first period.Â
With the score sitting 6-3 Michigan, the Wolverines embarked on a lengthy 10-0 run that started in the second quarter, extended throughout the entire third period, and finally halted in the fourth stanza when Britta Coultas found the cage.Â
The two teams then exchanged three goals each to end the contest at 19-7.
Bucknell heads to the Harvard Invite at Brown University next weekend.Â
