Men’s Tennis Falls 4-2 to Ranked Opponent for Second Straight Day

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – For the second time in less than 24 hours, the Bucknell men's tennis team dropped a 4-2 decision to ranked opponent, this time falling to No. 69 Drexel on Sunday morning at Vidas Courts. The Bison are now 6-4 on the season, with three of the four losses coming to teams in the ITA top-75 rankings, while the Dragons improved to 6-1.
Bucknell's points came in the top two singles spots, with Amar Tahirovic and Liam Kilmer winning in straight sets. Tahirovic, now 19-5 on the season, beat Tarek Erlewein 6-4, 6-4 at No. 1 for his eighth straight win. Kilmer improved to 12-5 with a 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) verdict over Josue Guzman at No. 2
Drexel took the doubles point and then used second-set tiebreaker wins from Lun Obrul at No. 4 and Antonio Franquis Leon at No. 5 to claim close matches and secure the win. Will Robinson was early in a first-set tiebreaker with Anthony Moukarzel on Court 6 when the team verdict was clinched by the Dragons.
Next up for Bucknell is a home date with Duquesne next Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Central PA Tennis Center. The Bison women's squad will also take on the Dukes at the same time.
