About this Weekend
• Army West Point hosts the Patriot League qualifier for the ITA Conference Masters Championship for the second straight year. This weekend's singles and doubles champions earn bids to the national event in Rome, Ga., on Nov. 5-8, where four singles players and two doubles teams will automatically qualify for the NCAA Championships. Each NCAA AQ-eligible Division I conference designates one singles player and one doubles team to compete at the ITA Conference Masters, and the Patriot League representatives are selected via this week's tournament.
• This is the third year of the Patriot League qualifying tournament, and Bucknell has dominated the event thus far. Amar Tahirovic defeated teammate Adam Stavrakas in the singles final in both 2024 and 2025, and Tahirovic and Brendan McDonald won the doubles crown in both years. All three of those champions have graduated, however, and now the Bison will turn to some new faces.
• Senior Liam Kilmer and freshman Enoch Lin will play singles, and Lin and fellow freshman Brady Friesen will compete in doubles. Kilmer is the No. 4 seed in the singles bracket and will open up against Matthew Carlson of Holy Cross on Friday. Lin will take on Colgate's Jack Babka in an all-freshman matchup. In doubles, Lin and Friesen, who are 3-1 together this season, are seeded No. 2 and will open up against Lafayette's Darrin Lerner and John Owen Studdiford.Â
• Bucknell sent four players to the ITA Northeast Regional at UPenn last weekend. Facing tough competition throughout, the Bison got singles wins from Tyler Bush against Lehigh's Kosei Ogawa (2-6, 6-4, 6-2) and Lin against Drexel's Anthony Moukarzel (6-4, 1-6, 10-6). Kilmer earned a bye into the main draw but fell in straight sets to Penn State's Eyal Shyovitz.
• With a new-look lineup this year, head coach Jason Cohen has mixed and matched his doubles teams. Bucknell has used 17 different doubles pairings thus far. Nelson Alapi is a perfect 6-0 in doubles with three different partners. Freshman Jovan Morales is 6-1, and Friesen is 6-2.
• Bucknell has a combined 18-11 doubles record and a 31-16 singles mark in three fall tournaments. Lin leads the squad with six doubles wins in eight matches, while Friesen is 5-1.
• Will Robinson and Kilmer are the team's lone seniors and most experienced players following the graduation of one of the finest senior classes in team history. Amar Tahirovic, Adam Stavrakas, Oscar Bain Moreno de Vega, and Brendan McDonald comprised the winningest class in program annals and led the Bison to the 2025 Patriot League title.
A Look Ahead
• Bucknell returns to action on the Nov. 5-8 weekend. That will be the ITA Conference Masters in Georgia for those who qualify, and the Bison will also send a contingent to Annapolis for the Navy Invitational.
