LORETTO, Pa.- Bucknell softball (14-28) completed its non-conference schedule with two Tuesday afternoon losses to reigning NEC champion Saint Francis (23-24). The Orange & Blue lost 7-6 and 3-1. The Bison achieved plenty of baserunners but the clutch hit often eluded the team.
Savannah Jones enjoyed the afternoon, smashing her first two career home runs. She also tossed three innings of shutout ball.
Game One Recap
Bucknell collected 11 hits and seven walks but stranded 13 runners, which proved the difference in the 7-6 loss.
The Bison scored first with a run in the second inning. The action started with two outs. Angelina Seropian singled, a pitch hit Bella Radican, and Haley Speicher walked. Ava Aguilar worked another walk for the game's first run. Jones's pop-up left the bases loaded.
Bucknell extended its lead to 3-0 with two runs in the next inning. Shea Malone and MaKenzie Hilling singled with one out. A Molly Lawson fielder's choice eliminated Malone at third. Seropian doubled in Hilling and Lawson and advanced to third on an errant throw. Radican walked but Speicher's grounder ended the stretch.
Madison Roukey entered the circle and pitched a scoreless fourth inning before SFU collected five runs in the fifth frame. Savannah Nash led off with a home run. Roukey obtained two quick outs before the umpire squeezed the strike zone and two walks followed. Addie Smith hit an RBI double, followed by Olivia Kolowitz's three-run bomb.

Popella walked and Reagan Powell pinch ran for her. Malone sacrificed her to second. Hilling's single placed Powell on third and Lawson's RBI grounder brought home the freshman and Bucknell led 6-5.
SFU immediately regained the lead. Hannah Bendle led off with a home run. Three straight singles occurred with one out with the final single bringing home the leading run.
The Bison fought to the end. Radican grounded out but Speicher followed with a single. Aguilar walked and Jones loaded the bases with a second single. Popella's sharp line drive was caught in center field and Speicher tagged up and dashed for the plate, but she was cut down on a perfect throw to end the game.
Game Two Recap
