Softball to Face Iona in Thursday Doubleheader

LEWISBURG, Pa.-Â Bucknell softball (14-24) finishes its 2025 home schedule Thursday with a non-conference doubleheader versus the Iona Gaels (26-14). The Bison are riding high on a five-game winning streak after sweeping Colgate in a must-win series over Easter weekend. The Orange & Blue will look to build upon its momentum with two wins against the MAAC foe.Â

The Inside "Herd" on the Bison
- Bucknell improved to 5-10 in conference action by sweeping Colgate over Easter weekend.Â
- Savannah Jones pitched her first shutout of the weekend with a two-hit performance in Saturday's 2-0 victory.Â
- The Bison offense came alive with seven runs and Madison Roukey pitched well leading to a 7-4 victory in Saturday's second game.Â
- Jones returned to the circle for Sunday's sole game and again only allowed two hits, prompting Bucknell to a 5-0 victory.Â
- Jones led the game at the plate and in the circle. She threw 14 scoreless innings with eight strikeouts and hit .600 with three RBIs and two doubles. She received Patriot League Pitcher of the Week for the second time this season and was also named to the NFCA's Selected Top Performance list.Â
- Jones and Roukey became the first Bison duo ever to each win two Patriot League Pitcher of the Week awards in a season.Â
- The Bison celebrated Senior Day last Saturday, honoring six seniors: Ava Aguilar, Juliette Basso, MaKenzie Hilling, Savannah Jones, Bella Radican, and Madison Roukey.Â
- Roukey's win placed her at 23 all-time, tied for tenth in Bucknell history with Allison Morena (86-89) and Katie McDonald (06-09).Â
- Popella's .318 batting average and 23 RBIs lead the team.Â
- Jones's two shutouts lowered her ERA to a team-best 3.36.Â
- Iona-Â The Gaels sit at 26-14 overall and 18-3 in the MAAC and enter the doubleheader on a seven-game win streak. Iona started the season 0-6 before drastically reverting its fortunes. Hailey Guerrero represents one of the region's more powerful bats, hitting .345 with 11 home runs and 26 RBIs. Brooke Acker leads the team with 36 RBIs. The Gaels are fearless on the base path, swiping 81 bases in 101 attempts. Their pitching staff has been remarkable, gathering a staff ERA of 2.95. Allison Hoppe is the ace with a 13-7 record and a 2.46 ERA.Â
- Iona-Â The two teams have only met one time - a 7-0 Iona victory in 2004.Â
