STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – Michael Rudnick eagled the par-5 12th hole on the way to a 1-under-par 71, helping the Bucknell men's golf team move up one spot to a 10th-place finish at Penn State's Rutherford Intercollegiate, which wrapped up on Sunday at the Blue Course.
The Bison closed with a 294 team score and finished at 897 over 54 holes. They started with a 292, but a tough second round on Saturday proved costly.
Rudnick started and finished with a bang on Sunday. The Bison began the final round off the 10th tee, and Rudnick got out of the gates with a birdie-bogey-eagle start. Another birdie at 15 got him to 3-under on the day before a handful of bogeys moved him out of red numbers. But later a birdie-birdie-birdie finish on his final three holes left him with a 1-under 71, Bucknell's best of the weekend. Rudnick shot 72-80-71 for a 54-hole total of 222, which put him in a tie for 32nd place.
Also for the Bison on Sunday, Jack Hartman and James Robbins finished with 74s, and James Key and Patrick Pritsios tallied 76s.
Delaware was the only team in the field to finish under par for the tournament. The Blue Hens tallied a 3-under 849 to hold off Long Island by four shots. Longwood (857), Rhode Island (863), and Connecticut (864) rounded out the top five.
Rhode Island's Luke Stennett was the medalist at 6-under 207 (66-71-70). Justin LaRue of Longwood finished two shots back.
Bucknell will now prep to host the 2025 Patriot League Championship in two weeks at the Bucknell Golf Club.
