About the Bison
- The Bucknell men's golf team has played in 10 events across six different states, all in preparation for this weekend's Patriot League Championship. The Bison will have the advantage of competing on their home course, as the Bucknell Golf Club plays host to the championship for the seventh time.
- Bucknell is seeking its fourth Patriot League title and first since 2009.
- The Bison will be paired with Lehigh and Lafayette for the first round, with their tee times starting at 9 a.m. Holy Cross and Army will go out in the first wave at 8 a.m., and Loyola, Colgate, and Navy will go off at 10 a.m.Â
- Coach Mike Binney's lineup will consist of junior James Key, freshman Jack Hartman, senior Michael Rudnick, junior James Robbins, freshman Patrick Pritsios, and sophomore Hayden Quinn. This will be the fourth PL Championship appearance for Rudnick, the third for Key, the second for Robbins and Quinn, and the first for Hartman and Pritsios.
- Rudnick has an All-Patriot League medal in his portfolio. He finished T-6th at Steel Club as a freshman in 2022, shooting 76-71-74.
- Bucknell is coming off a 10th-place finish at Penn State's Rutherford Invitational two weeks ago. Rudnick closed with a 70 and was the low Bison in a tie for 32nd place.
- Hartman has four under-par rounds this spring and leads the team with a 73.8 scoring average over the full season. Rudnick is next at 75.3, followed by Pritsios (76.0), Quinn (76.2), Key (76.7), and Robbins (76.9).
- Jack Hartman's father, Josh, played in four PL Championships, finishing T-11th in 1994, T-20th in 1995, 4th in 1996, and T-6th in 1997.Â
- This is the 34th Patriot Championship. Bucknell has won the event three times (2006, 2007, 2009).
- The team champion receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Regionals. The individual medalist also earns a spot if he is not already a member of the winning team.
- Lehigh hosted the 2024 championship at Saucon Valley Country Club. Bucknell tied for fifth place with a 905 team score (303-303-299). Loyola captured the title with an 881 composite, 13 shots better than runner-up Colgate.
- Bucknell previously hosted the Patriot League Championship in 1994, 2000, 2005, 2007, 2012, and 2017.
- In the previous six championships played at the Bucknell Golf Club, the Bison have an average finish of 2.5. Bucknell won the 2007 title on its home course and was runner-up in 2000 and 2005.
- In the 2005 event, Charlie Waddell and Ben Pallicani finished 1-2 on the individual leaderboard. Pellicani's second-round 65 was the school record at the time. Waddell shot 67-71-71 and bested his teammate by one shot for the title.
- Waddell (3rd), Andrew Cohen (T-4th), and Keita Aoki (T-6th) all finished in the top-10 when the Bison won the team title in 2007.
- Peter Scialabba (2012) and J.P. Raftery (2017) both finished second individually on their home course. Raftery shot 67-68-69, and his 204 is the low 54-hole total ever by a Bison at the PL Championship.
