CLARKSVILLE, Tenn.- The Bucknell Bison softball team (6-11) dropped a pair of five inning contests on Saturday at the Cathi Maynard Invitational. The Orange & Blue were defeated 11-2 by Appalachian State and 9-0 by host team Austin Peay.

Appalachian State Recap

Madison Roukey started in the circle for Bucknell and for the second straight game did not survive the first inning. A Brooke Popella error started the game. A double and a walk loaded the bases. Two RBI singles followed and chased Roukey from the circle. Mea Consentino entered the fray and yielded a three-run double.

App State added two more runs in the second inning. A double and a home run provided the damage.

Sarah Zimmerman started the third inning and gave up a run on a double and single combination.

The Bison scored a run in the bottom of the third after Angelina Seropian hit an infield single. Two App State errors plated the run.

App State bunched a walk, a single, and a triple for two more runs in the fourth inning, providing the 11-1 lead.

Bucknell ended the shortened game with a single tally in the final frame. Juliette Basso walked and Bella Radican pinch ran for her. Shea Malone singled and a fielder's choice moved Radican to third. Savannah Jones hit a sacrifice fly to score her fellow senior. But the Bison scored no more and the run-rule was invoked.

Austin Peay Recap

Payton Hale started in the circle and did not survive to see the second inning. APU hit two doubles and a dropped fly ball by Popella loaded the bases. A walk scored another run. A single to center field turned into three runs when Haley Speicher misplayed the ball. Zimmerman entered and doused the flames but the Governors led 5-0.

Austin Peay had the reputation of a power-hitting team and they proved it with a two-run homer in the third inning.

The Governors added another two-run bomb in the fourth inning to set up the mercy rule.

Bucknell did not score and the game ended early.
