Caffrey's Call
"Our team is really excited to play in Nashville this week for our spring break. It is always a really fun trip and I'm pumped for them to experience the culture of Nashville as most of them have not been before. This week is a great opportunity to put everything together and I think we are in a great position to do that. We're playing some good ball, so I'm excited for us to take on this week together."
The Inside "Herd" on the Bison
- Bucknell hammered Radford in a pair of 9-1 five-inning wins but lost twice to Robert Morris yielding 30 runs and fell 6-1 to Sun Belt powerhouse James Madison.
- Freshman Reagan Powell introduced herself going 6 for 10 with two home runs, one double, one triple, and eight RBIs. The production earned the rookie Patriot League Player of the Week. The Bison now have back-to-back years with two players winning the award. Shea Malone won it earlier this year and Makenzie Hilling and Savannah Jones received the laurel last season.
- Nicole Lioumis, Brooke Popella, and Reagan Powell all hit their first collegiate home run at the Hokie Invite. The Bison pounded five home runs - one more than their 2024 total of four.
- Lioumis and Marissa Rapino drove in three RBIs.
- Hilling collected a home run and five RBIs.
- Madison Roukey pitched a complete game effort in the first 9-1 win over Radford.
- UMass-Lowell- The Riverhawks are 2-10 to start the year but have won two straight games over Hampton and Norfolk State. The team went 17-29 last year. UMass-Lowell lacks a power punch with zero home runs but they have hit 18 doubles. Their pitching staff rotates between three hurlers with a combined 5.40 ERA.
- Appalachian State- App State sits at 7-12 against a juggernaut schedule featuring six Power Four matches and #21 Liberty. The Mountaineers dropped a 5-4 heartbreaker to #9 Georgia. Liberty burned App State 9-1 in six innings. App State went 2-0 against Lehigh. In 2024, ASU went 21-30 overall and 4-20 in the brutally tough Sun Belt. App boasts a balanced lineup with 14 home runs in 19 games.
- Austin Peay - Austin Peay has been dominant in 2025 going 17-3 and currently have a 14-game winning streak which included a win over Patriot League foe Holy Cross and a defeat of #22 Florida Atlantic - the first ranked win in program history. The Governors finished 23-29 in 2024 but have quickly turned their fortunes around thanks to a power surplus of 26 home runs and a pitching staff carrying a 2.77 ERA.
- UMass-Lowell- Bucknell is 0-1 all-time against the Riverhawks. UMass-Lowell won the sole meeting 4-1 in 2019.
- Appalachian State- This is the first meeting.
- Austin Peay - Bucknell trails the all-time series 3-4. The series began in 1999 with four meetings. The teams split the contests 2-2. Bucknell won the sole competition in 2002. The latest games occurred in 2018 and APU won both.
Bucknell stays in Tennessee to face Lipscomb (March 11) and Tennessee State (March 12).
