
Softball Marches to West Point to Battle League-Leading Army

LEWISBURG, Pa.- Bucknell softball (9-16, 0-3 Patriot League) continues conference play with a three-game series at Army. The Black Knights (18-12, 3-0 Patriot League) opened league play with a surprise sweep over perennial power Lehigh and added two wins over non-conference foe Rider to continue their victory streak to six games. The Bison battled two-time champion Boston to the hilt last weekend but lost all three games to begin league play winless.

The Inside "Herd" on the Bison
- Boston swept the Bison in a three-game series at Becker Field to open Patriot League play.
- The Orange & Blue dropped a 14-7 heartbreaker in 15-innings. Bucknell led 4-2 before the Terriers tied the game at 4-4. Boston seized a 7-4 game in the 14th inning. The Bison answered the call with three runs. The elation did not last as Boston scored seven runs to grab the win.
- Boston swept the Sunday doubleheader 8-4 and 8-2. Bucknell led 3-1 in the first contest before Boston asserted itself. Bucknell trailed 3-0 after the first inning in the second game and never caught up.
- Bucknell swept Wagner in a doubleheader on Tuesday. The Bison won 8-1 and 5-2 against the NEC foe.
- Reagan Powell led the Bison hitting batting .400 (4 of 10) on the weekend.
- Two players are batting above .300, led by rookie Reagan Powell's .378 mark. Ava Aguilar has enjoyed a renaissance season batting .313.
- Nicole Lioumis leads the team in home runs (3).
- MaKenzie Hilling's and Brooke Popella's 17 RBI lead the team.
- Army- The Black Knights are 18-12 this year and were projected to finish third in the PL. Army spent its non-conference schedule taking a national tour playing in California, Louisiana, Florida, Georgia, and Nevada. They swept Lehigh 4-3 (8), 9-0, and 6-5 (8). USMA has a balanced attack with six players recording 10+ RBI. Ashton White, the Patriot League Preseason Player of the Year, leads the team with a .406 average and 20 RBI. Their pitching staff has been a reliable weapon compiling a 3.16 ERA.
- Army- The Black Knights have the 74-46 series lead but Bucknell won last year's series two games out of three.
