LEWISBURG, Pa.- Bucknell (9-16, 0-3 Patriot League) fell twice to Boston (17-10, 3-0 Patriot League) to end the three-game series. The visiting Terriers won 8-4 and 8-2 to complete the weekend sweep.
Bucknell led 3-0 in the first game before the Terriers counterattacked with a 7-1 run to down the Bison. Boston handily won the second game of the doubleheader with key hitting and their ace Kasey Ricard pitching a complete contest.
Game One Recap
Bucknell struck early for a 3-0 lead sending the Becker Field crowd into a spirited celebration. The first run arrived in the second inning. Brooke Popella reached on an error and was sacrificed to second by Savannah Jones. Shea Malone hit a sharp single to first base scoring Popella.
The Bison added two runs in the third inning. Ava Aguilar singled and Haley Speicher worked a walk. MaKenzie Hilling sacrificed them over with a perfect bunt. Popella delivered a two-run single scoring the runners. Boston switched pitchers from Haley Ganino to Ava Johnson and the new blood halted the rally.
Boston struck back for a run in the next frame. Brooke Deppiesse led off with a double and advanced to third on a wild pitch. A Sydney Pecoraro single plated Deppiesse.
The roof collapsed in the fifth inning. Savannah Jones, who started in the circle, yielded a leadoff walk and head coach Sarah Caffrey yanked her for Madison Roukey. Two straight singles loaded the bases. Kylie Doherty doubled to right field tying the game. Deppiesse poled a long foul ball. Malone caught the ball which allowed the Terrier on third to dart home and score. The trade of an out for a run favored Boston. Pecoraro hit her second RBI single and Boston led 5-3.
Bucknell grabbed a run in its fifth inning but left meat on the bone. Speicher and Hilling singled with one out and Kate Dailor was inserted to pinch run for the latter. Popella singled and Speicher dashed home. A passed ball advanced both runners but they were left stranded when Molly Lawson struck out swinging.
Boston tacked on two more runs in the sixth inning. Addie Lucier singled but Roukey induced two straight outs. Kyomi Apalit ended the chance of keeping the deficit at one with a two-run bomb over the center field wall. That spelled the end for Roukey. Payton Hale replaced the senior in the circle.
Hale yielded an insurance run in the seventh inning when Deppiesse singled and Pecoraro tripled to right center.
Bucknell went down in order in its last at-bats.

Sarah Zimmerman started in the circle for the Bison and recorded the first two outs. A single to second base, which Bella Radican tried to backhand, jumpstarted a three-run rally. Megan Coyle singled and Libby Walsh tripled to right center to score both Terriers. Lucier doubled to tally Walsh.
Zimmerman settled down and did not yield another run until the sixth inning.
Ricard started for Boston after throwing 262 pitches during yesterday's marathon 15-inning classic and did not need to equal the performance.
Bucknell drew blood in the fourth inning. Speicher singled, and after two consecutive outs, Jones walked. Marissa Rapino doubled down the line to score Speicher. Nicole Lioumis had the chance to tie the game but grounded out to the pitcher.
Boston added a run in the sixth inning on a Lucier single and pinch-hitter Olivia DeLong's RBI double.
