LEWISBURG, Pa.- Bucknell Volleyball has steamrolled opponents during its five-game winning streak and the Bison completed the regular season with a sweep of Army on Saturday. Conference voters awarded Sidney Shaffer and Cameron Lloyd their second consecutive Patriot League Player of the Week and Defensive Player of the Week awards, as announced Monday morning by the league office. It is the third weekly award this season for both athletes. The Bucknell Athletics Department named Shaffer Bison of the Week for the third time this season and second consecutive week.
Shaffer was merciless to the Army defense, collecting 12 kills in the three-set match on a sizzling .579 hitting percentage. Defensively, she was a brick wall, totaling four solo blocks and cutting off the middle, forcing every Black Knight attacker to hit high. During the Bison's five-game winning streak, Shaffer has collected 68 kills, hit .478 (including a school record .800 against Holy Cross), and 20 digs.Â
Lloyd shoveled 12 digs against Army to tie for the game-high. She directed a Bison defense that completely and historically shut down the Black Knights' offense. Army was held to a -.027 hitting percentage and hit -.079 and -.057 in the match's first two sets. Army only scored 37 points in three sets. Lloyd has collected 92 digs (4.84 per set) during the winning streak.Â
Bucknell, as the four seed, hosts fifth-seed Navy tomorrow in the Patriot League First Round at 6 p.m.
