The Hornets flew out to a 12-7 lead before the Bison turned the tide by consistently chipping away at the lead. Down 18-16, Bucknell made its move with a 9-3 run, punctuated by a Cameron Lloyd kill to win the opening set 25-21.Â
The second set repeated the process of DSU leading early only to see the Bison battle back and win. The Orange & Blue parlayed that into a winning segment finalized by two straight Taylor kills.Â
Losing two leads drained the Hornets' spirit and the Bison cruised to its second straight sweep. Bucknell led 15-8 before a 6-0 run conclusively ended any further DSU threat. A final Delaware State attack error handed the set and match to Bucknell.Â
Siena Recap
The tournament hosts were too much for the Bison, outhitting Bucknell .291 to .097. Siena collected 44 kills to the Orange & Blue's 34.Â
Sidney Shaffer led Bucknell with nine kills. Katie O'Sullivan shoveled 19 digs.Â
The Saints owned most of the first set, constantly building five-point leads on the Bison. Bucknell rallied and tied the set at 18-18 on an Emerson Boyd kill. The outcome enraged Siena, as the Saints ripped off a 7-0 run to win 25-18.Â
Siena repeated the same score in set two. Trailing 5-3, the Saints used a 9-2 run to grab the lead. Bucknell cut the deficit to 17-15 before an 8-3 Siena run collected another set win.Â
With the score tied at 11-11 in the third set, Siena used another lengthy run - a 12-3 stretch - to escape the Bison and avoid a fourth stanza. Two more Siena kills prevented any late rallies and won the set 25-15 to clinch the match.Â
