10/1/2025 9:31:00 PM | Women's Soccer
POSTGAME WITH COACH KELLY COOK:
LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell women's soccer team outshot Lafayette 17-8 but could not find the back of the net, and the two sides finished in a scoreless draw on Wednesday night at Emmitt Field at Holmes Stadium. Both teams remain unbeaten in Patriot League play at 1-0-2.
Bucknell had chances throughout the 90 minutes, and Lafayette had some bright moments of its own in the second half. Catherine Apker was outstanding in goal for the Leopards. She made six saves, including diving stops on quality attempts from Riley Hayes in the 18th minute and Henna Andican in the 48th.
Andican led all players with five shots on the night, including a curler from the left flank that barely went over the bar midway through the first half. Bucknell was all over the Leopards in the first 15 minutes of the second half, but the visitors leveled the field for a spell later in the match. Bison netminder Reese Dolan made a key intervention coming off her line to pick off a dangerous low cross, and outside backs Leah DeLaurentiis and Ava Palladino were terrific on the flanks all night.
Bucknell had two good chances on set pieces around the 70-minute mark. Bella Connell went for goal on a free kick from 30 yards out and didn't miss by much, and four minutes later Presley Sutter put a clean header from the center of the box into the arms of Apker.
Dolan's only official save of the night was a game-saver on Katrina Santelli in the 83rd minute. Santelli poked a shot through the legs of a defender, and Dolan had to make a quick-reaction kick save. Dolan was called into action again with two minutes to go. Santelli took a heavy touch on a ball played through the back line, and Dolan charged off her line to win the race to the ball while taking a hard knee to the thigh.
The Bison are now 19-1-3 in the last 23 meetings with Lafayette, including a 5-0-2 mark in the last seven.
After three rounds of Patriot League play, Bucknell, Lafayette, and Loyola are now part of a three-way tie for second place on five points. Colgate defeated Holy Cross 1-0 on Wednesday to get to seven points and claim sole possession of the lead.
Bucknell and Loyola will meet in Baltimore on Saturday at 1 p.m.
