Ingrid Murphy Named Patriot League Women’s Soccer Rookie of Week

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell freshman midfielder Ingrid Murphy was selected as the Patriot League Women's Soccer Rookie of the Week on Monday. Murphy made an impact in her first collegiate action last week, highlighted by her first goal in Thursday's 1-0 win at Montana.
Murphy's goal in the 15th minute held up as the game-winner as the Bison opened the season with a victory over the defending Big Sky Conference champion. She nearly added two more but was denied by a great diving save from the Grizzlies' goalkeeper late in the first half and then by the goalpost early in the second.
In Sunday's 1-0 loss at Eastern Washington, Murphy led all players with five shot attempts, including two more off the woodwork. She leads all Bison players with eight shots through two games.
Next up for Bucknell is the home opener on Thursday against Mount St. Mary's at 4 p.m. That will be the opener of a soccer doubleheader at Emmitt Field at Holmes Stadium, with the Bison men set to follow at 7:30 p.m. against Hofstra.
