
Women's Track & Field Resumes 2024-25 Season at the Nittany Lion Challenge

LEWISBURG, Pa.-Â The Bucknell women's track & field team returns to competition after the Christmas break by making the short trip down Route 45 to Penn State for the annual Nittany Lion Challenge. It will be Bucknell's first action since the Bison Opener on Dec. 6-7.Â

Last Time Out (Bison Opener)
- The Bison won seven events to open the season and Justley Sharp set her third school record.Â
- Sharp earned gold in the shot put and moved to the top of the record list with a 50-8.25 throw. The sophomore thrower also owns the school record in the discus and outdoor shot put.Â
- Madison Fowler debuted in spectucular fashion winning the weight throw (57-4.75) by passing two Nittany Lion throwers on the final attempt. Her mark ranks third in Bison history.Â
- Freshman Alexandra Lea won the 300-meter dash (40.88) and her time slots fifth all-time in Bucknell history.
- Freshman Madeline Sipe posted the win in the 500-meter dash with a time of 1:18.65.
- Caryn Rippey carried over her momentum from the 2024 outdoor and cross country seasons by grabbing first (9:55.46) in the 3000-meter run.
- Bucknell won the 4x400-meter relay with Alexa Goll, Anna Posh, Alexandra Lea, and Alison Cooke combining to win the event (3:59.84).
- Samantha Cole began her career as Bucknell's main pentathlon athlete recording 3083 points.Â
- The Bison won two weekly awards for their efforts with Sharp winning Women's Field Athlete of the Week and Madison Fowler taking home Women's Rookie of the Week.Â
