LEWISBURG, Pa.- The Bucknell Bison volleyball team (11-1, 3-0 Patriot) unlocked the longest win streak in program history with a 3-0 sweep over the Lafayette Leopards (6-7, 1-3 Patriot) on Saturday in Davis Gym. The Bison rolled 25-16, 25-22, 25-18 for its 11th consecutive victory, and they remained perfect in conference play. It is the second time Bucknell has started 3-0 in Patriot League play under head coach Tyler Hagstrom. The previous occurrence was in 2022.Â
Bucknell used a balanced offense to keep the Leopards at bay. Three Bison obtained double-digit kill totals with Bri Frazilus's 15 leading the team. Frazilus was brilliantly efficient, hitting .407. Tijana Kostic added 11 kills on a .400 hitting percentage. Cameron Lloyd rounded out the trio with 11 kills and narrowly missed hitting. 400 with her .391 average. Overall, Bucknell outkilled Lafayette 50-30.Â
Kostic added 14 digs pacing the defensive effort. Caleigh O'Connell provided 44 assists on a .506 percentage.Â
Bucknell never trailed in the opening set, blasting out to a 4-0 lead. The Bison extended its lead to 11-6 before Lafayette crept within 12-11. The Orange & Blue prevented any dramatics with a 9-2 run to effectively win the set. The teams traded points until the first stanza ended at 25-16 Bucknell.Â
Lafayette flipped the script in the next set jumping out to a 6-3 advantage. Bucknell proved equal to the Leopards' challenge by storming ahead to a 10-8 score. Twice Lafayette tied it at 11-11 and 13-13, but the Leopards would never deadlock the set again. Bucknell grew its advantage to 20-15, however Lafayette still had fight in its claws and drew within 23-22, forcing a Bucknell timeout. The stoppage worked, as two Lafayette errors won the set for Bucknell.Â
Bucknell wasted little time in the third and final set, galloping to a 3-0 lead. Lafayette made it interesting by closing the deficit to 6-4. A 7-0 Bison run provided the winning breathing space. The Bison moved to 23-13 but had difficulty closing out the set as Lafayette used a late 4-0 rally. But it ultimately only delayed the defeat. Two kills by Kostic and Tucker ended the set and the match.Â
The Bison complete a four-game home stretch with a visit from Lehigh on Sunday at 3 p.m. Bucknell will attempt to start 4-0 in conference play for the first time since 2003.Â
