Women's Water Polo Gears Up for CWPA Tournament

LEWISBURG, Pa. - The women's water polo team is primed for action as the postseason approaches, eagerly gearing up for the upcoming CWPA Championship tournament being held in Cambridge, Mass. The Bison are the No. 5 seed and will take on No. 4 Brown in the first round on Friday at 6 p.m. The victor of this match will advance to challenge top-seeded Princeton on Saturday at 2 p.m.

Bucknell is presently ranked fifth in the CWPA, trailing behind Brown in fourth place and Harvard in third. Princeton holds the first position, with Michigan in second.
Bucknell and Brown are set to meet in the pool for the third time this season. So far, the Bison have faced two defeats against the Bears and are eager to reverse that trend. The Bears won 8-5 at Princeton on March 3 and 10-4 in Lewisburg on Apr. 6.
In their most recent encounter, the game began at a sluggish pace, with neither team scoring until the second quarter. Both the Bison and Bears traded shots throughout the first half, but Bucknell broke the deadlock with goals from Gwen Kallmeyer and Isabelle Monaghan. Brown swiftly answered back with goals contributed by Hanna Tidrenczel, Aubrie Anderson, Gaby Montalvo, and sophomore Ella Palmer.
In the first matchup, Bucknell led 3-1 in the first quarter and limited Brown to only two first-half goals, but the Bears rallied later for the 8-5 win.
