BOSTON, Mass.- The Bucknell Bison softball team (15-23, 6-7 Patriot League) played on even terms with the league-leading Boston Terriers (38-4, 10-0 Patriot League) for six of seven innings, but a seven-run outburst in the fifth frame unlocked victory for Boston.
Game Recap
Madison Roukey started the game for Bucknell and pitched four scoreless innings against a lethal Boston offense. The junior pitcher did run into temporary trouble in the fourth inning but induced a flyout to leave the bases loaded.
Bella Radican broke up the Boston no-hitter in the fifth inning with an expertly placed single to right field.
Boston tallied seven runs in its fifth frame. A flyout started the inning and was followed by a walk and single. Hunter Vestal entered the circle and issued a four-pitch walk which loaded the bases. A RBI grounder scored the first run. Another walk reloaded the bases. A single up the middle scored two runs. An error by Brooke Popella scored another run. A walk occurred which chased Vestal and brought Sarah Zimmerman into the circle. The freshman tossed a four-pitch walk to score the fifth run. A single to right center field brought home the final two runs.
The Bison only managed a single hit over the last two innings.
