
Softball Faces the League-Leading Boston Terriers in Weekend Series

LEWISBURG, Pa.- The Bucknell Bison softball team (15-22, 6-6 Patriot League) stays road-bound for a second consecutive weekend as the squad travels to Massachusetts to face the reigning league champions the Boston Terriers (37-4, 9-0 Patriot League). Bucknell is fighting for a return trip to the Patriot League Tournament and has six conference games remaining.Â

The Inside "Herd" on the Bison
- Bucknell lost two of three games to the Colgate Raiders this past weekend. The Bison fell 9-3 and 8-5 before rallying the troops to win 9-1 (5) in the final contest.Â
- The victory against Colgate gave Coach Sarah Caffrey her 50th career victory, tying her with Courtnay Foster for sixth in Bucknell history.Â
- MaKenzie Hilling had a banner weekend against the Raiders, batting .625 to win her Patriot League Player of the Week award. She joined Savannah Jones as the other Bucknell player to win the honor in 2024.
- Hilling drove in two RBIs, scored three runs, and walked three times. Her OBP was .727, and she slugged an impressive .750.Â
- The three walks boosted Hilling's total to 21, slotting her third-best in the Patriot League.Â
- Outfielder/pitcher Sarah Zimmerman continued to impress at the plate, going 4-for-9 (.444) and driving in three RBIs. The fleet-footed freshman also stole a base.Â
- Utility player Bella Radican had a breakout weekend, batting 4-for-9 (.444) with an RBI.Â

- Boston- The Terriers are 37-4 and 9-0 in Patriot League play. Four of their nine conference wins have come via the run rule, but they have been taken to extra innings in two games. They recently defeated Stonehill, in its second year of Division I competition, 11-1 in five innings. Boston bats .340 as a team on the season, with three players hovering above .400. The Terriers boast power with 104 extra-base hits in 41 games. Lauren Keleher leads the squad with 13 doubles, seven home runs, and a .453 average. Boston's pitching has been lights out, compiling a 1.56 ERA. Kasey Ricard ranks as the staff ace with an 18-3 record.Â
History with the Foe
- Boston- Bucknell trails the all-time series 7-23. The series started in 2014 when Boston gained admittance to the Patriot League. The Terriers swept the 2023 series held in Lewisburg.Â
