The Inside "Herd" on the Bison
- Bucknell defeated Lafayette in three games (3-1, 2-1 (8), and 4-1) for its first opening weekend sweep since 2021. The Bison have won, dating back to 2023, nine straight conference games for the best mark in the Patriot League.
- The Bison played Route 45 Rival Penn State on Tuesday and lost 10-2 in six innings.
- Madison Roukey won Bison of the Week on March 26 for her three-win effort against Lafayette. The junior pitcher threw 17 innings, struck out ten Lafayette batters, and only yielded eight hits.
- Roukey was recently profiled in the Bucknell Athletes Tales from the Herd series. The story is available at this link.
- Savannah Jones destroyed Lafayette's pitching, going 8-for-11 with two doubles and two RBIs. She drove in both runs in the 2-1 victory over Lafayette. She won Patriot League Player of the Week, becoming the first Bison to do so since 2021.
Overview of the Opposition
- Army- The Black Knights are 4-22 and lost four straight games. Army has faced a challenging schedule with seven opponents in the top 100 for RPI. West Point opened Patriot League play against the reigning champion Boston Terriers and was swept. Army did take Boston to nine innings in one game before falling 3-0. The Black Knights were projected to finish third in the league, just above Bucknell's fourth-place slot. Patriot League preseason pick Kayla Edwards leads Army with a .379 batting average. Four pitchers lead Army with one win.
History with the Foes
- Army- Bucknell trails the all-time series 44-73. The rivalry started back in 1991. In 2023, Army won two of the three regular series games and ended Bucknell's season in the Patriot League Tournament.
