Softball Heads Down Route 45 to Play Penn State in Tuesday Game

LEWISBURG, Pa.- The Bucknell Bison softball team (12-15) coming off a weekend sweep against Lafayette heads to in-state rival Penn State (23-6) for a Tuesday showdown. It is Bucknell's first midweek game this season. The scheduled doubleheader against Saint Francis last week was postponed due to unfavorable weather.

The Inside "Herd" on the Bison

Bucknell swept Lafayette in three games (3-1, 2-1 (8), and 4-1) for its first opening weekend sweep since 2021. The Bison have won, dating back to 2023, nine straight conference games for the best mark in the Patriot League.
Madison Roukey won Bison of the Week for her three-win effort. The junior pitcher threw 17 innings, struck out ten Lafayette batters, and only yielded eight hits.
Roukey ranks fourth in the Patriot League in wins (6), complete games (5), games started (12), and ERA (1.93). She is second in the league in strikeouts (66).
Savannah Jones had a banner weekend at the plate, going 8-for-11 with two doubles and two RBIs. She drove in both runs in the 2-1 victory over Lafayette.
Junior first baseman MaKenzie Hilling leads the team in walks (16). That mark is second in the PL.

Penn State- The Nittany Lions are 23-6 and have won eight straight games. Penn State opened the first Big 10 weekend with a sweep over Indiana. They defeated one ranked team in #16 Arkansas. Penn State faced Lehigh twice and won both games. The Nittany Lions boast a potent offense, hitting .302 as a team, with six starters over the .300 mark. Three players have 10+ doubles. Ace pitcher Bridget Nemeth has been amazing, going 13-0 with an ERA of 1.09.
