Donner's Debriefing
"Considering how young we are with all the rookies, I was very pleased with the first meet of the year. We had a good number of wins and numerous athletes who made our all-time top 10 which generated plenty of optimism from the first meet. Justley's school record in the shot put was impressive and Fowler looked great in the weight throw. We showed great balance across all the event groups."
Sharp posted the win in the shot put and moved herself from third to first in Bucknell history. Her 50-8.25 throw arrived in the first attempt and Sharp later equaled the mark in her fifth try. Sharp dethroned former teammate Siobhan O'Sullivan - Bucknell's Sultaness of Shot Put, whose 49-10 mark was set in 2023. Last year, Sharp set the discus and outdoor shot put records.Â
The Bison took 1-2-3 in the shot put as Christine Ajao finished second (43-10.75) and Madison Fowler grabbed third (42-6.25).
Fowler immediately made her presence felt in the collegiate ranks by winning the weight throw. The freshman entered the final round in third place behind two Penn State throwers. The Missouri native uncorked a massive throw of 57-4.75 to forge ahead and claim third place in Bucknell history.Â
"Winning my first ever college event was surreal," said Fowler. "I went into competition knowing it was going to be a good day but to set a personal record by four feet and take the gold was beyond my expectations. Getting into the top ten was definitely one of my goals this meet, so to finish three all-time was a great achievement. I can't wait to see what the rest of my indoor season looks like."
Ajao placed fourth in the weight throw tossing 55-9 which improved upon her fifth-best mark in program history.Â
Throws coach Ryan Protzman was immensely proud of his throws group.Â
"It was a really good starting point to the season for the crew. They have put in a lot of work since the summer and the energy built for the first meet was the perfect recipe. There is still a lot of work ahead of us, but I love the way this group pushes forward together."
Freshman Noelani Sadler arrived from sunny Miami and brought some heat to the 60-meter hurdles finishing second (8.81). The time ranks fourth in Bucknell history.Â
The Bison took home the top four spots in the 300-meter dash and two Orange & Blue dashwomen entered into the top ten. Freshman Alexandra Lea won the event (40.88) and slots fifth all-time. Alison Cooke finished second (40.95), establishing a personal record and moving to sixth in Bucknell history.Â
Freshman Madeline Sipe posted the win in the 500-meter dash with a time of 1:18.65.Â
Anna Posh zoomed ahead of the competition in the 800-meter run finishing first (2:17.41). Katrina Torelli collected second (2:19.79) and Clara Knab notched third (2:21.47).Â
The Bison claimed the top three spots in the 3000-meter run powered by cross country runners. Caryn Rippey had an amazing 2023-24 track season and a standout cross country campaign. Her success did not falter as the junior runner grabbed first (9:55.46). Kailey Granger earned second (9:57.99) and Kerry O'Day placed third (9:59.27).Â
Bucknell used a blend of veteran experience and youthful dash to win the 4x400-meter relay. Freshman Alexa Goll, Posh, Lea, and Cooke combined to win the event racing 3:59.84.Â
Elizabeth Bryant claimed third place in the pole vault with a clearance of 11-5.75.Â
Former Bison and school record holder Meghan Quinn returned to Gerhard Fieldhouse as a graduate student with Penn State. Quinn reenacted old times by winning the 60-meter dash (7.60).Â

The Bison will resume competitions in January after completing finals and refueling during the holiday break.Â
