UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.- The Bucknell Bison women's track & field team resumed the 2023-24 season in high fashion with numerous top-ten finishes against regional competition Saturday afternoon at the Nittany Lion Challenge. Senior Lila Gaughan provided the headlining event by winning the long jump.Â

Donner's Debriefing
"I felt our men's and women's teams had a great meet. We are way ahead of where we were a year ago today. That is how I evaluate development. Typically, after the semester break and the six-week layoff between meets, our team can be stale, especially in the technical events. However, we were solid today, and there is still plenty of room for improvement. The competition was fierce, with four Power Five schools in attendance plus programs from the Atlantic 10, Big East, Horizon League, and the NEC. There were also some great post collegiate talent. Every event was stacked and I felt our critical mass handled that pressure well."
RecapÂ
Lila Gaughan starred in the long jump. The senior jumper leaped for a mark of 19-0 ½ to take home gold. The feat would rank fourth in Bucknell history if Gaughan had not already slotted second.
Anna Posh won silver in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:17.21. Hailey Tabar took home fifth place (2:19.08).
Bucknell continued its excellent portrayal in the high jump. Karen Hull obtained bronze with her jump of 5-7 ¼, and Abby Kates grabbed sixth (5-6).
Meghan Quinn raced to fourth place in a time of 24.41. The mark would rank third in Bucknell history if the senior speedster didn't own the top spot.
Katie Loew finished fourth in the 600-meter run. The junior runner had a time of 1:33.44.
The Bison placed three throwers in the weight throw top ten. Isabelle Roes led the way, earning sixth (51-9 ¼). Christine Ajao followed with eighth place (51-2 ¾), and Madison McGloin grabbed tenth (46-10 ¼).
The quartet of Katie Loew, Colleen Linko, Anna Posh, and Meghan Quinn raced to sixth place (3:50.89) in the 4x400-meter relay. The foursome displayed great promise as the Bison worked to replicate the magnificent 4x400 group of 2022-23.
Two Bison runners finished in the top ten for the 1000-meter run. Abby Paczewski earned seventh place. Her time of 2:55.12 was one second away from breaking into the Bucknell top-ten rankings. Sarah Policano finished ninth (2:59.41).
Caryn Rippey earned seventh place in the 3000-meter run. The sophomore runner provided a time of 9:56.78.
Justley Sharp improved upon her sixth ranking for shot put in Bucknell history. The freshman tossed the sphere at 46-8 ¼ to gain seventh place. Fellow freshman Prizila Negrete earned tenth (39-8).
Karen Hull continued her impressive showings in the 60-meter hurdles with a seventh-place finish. Hull accomplished the feat on a time of 8.92.
Freshman Megan Baggetta shined in the triple jump, posting a 37-7 ¼ mark to take home eighth place. Senior Kaia Slaw was behind her in ninth place (36-11 ½).
Karly Renn grabbed eighth place in the pole vault on a clearance of 11-5.
