MEDELLIN, COLUMBIA- Prizila Negrete made her return from injury to represent Honduras in the shot put at the 2026 Pan American Senior Athletics Championships on Friday night. The rising senior finished seventh in a crowded and competitive field featuring some of the Americas' top throwers.
Results
Negrete recorded marks on all six of her throws. Her best distance of 12.40m (40-8.25) arrived during her fifth opportunity. She displayed a remarkable consistency, hitting over 12.11m (39-8.75) in every throw.Â
Negrete's 2026 indoor season was cut short after the Penn Classic (Feb. 6-7) due to injury, and her absence extended through the outdoor campaign—a noticeable loss for Bucknell's women's throws group.
She has represented the Five Stars in numerous competitions, minted six medals, and earned the Honduras Women's Track & Field Athlete of the Year in April after setting the country's national record in the shot put at the 2025 Central American Games.Â
Dianelis Delis Miclin of Cuba won the event with a throw of 18.12m (59-5.50).
If healthy, Negrete could represent Honduras in upcoming competitions before returning to action this winter for Bucknell track & field.
