Kaitlin Salisbury Makes List of 250 Best New Jersey Track & Field/Cross Country Athletes of All-Time

LEWISBURG, Pa.- Current Bucknell assistant coach and program legend Kaitlin Salisbury added another laurel to her impressive list of accomplishments by being named to the MileSplit 250 Best New Jersey Track & Field & Cross Country Athletes of All-Time List. Salisbury was one of the 125 female athletes selected for the exclusive honor.Â

"Nobody does it like New Jersey," Salisbury said. "Meet of Champions does what I believe other state championships are afraid to do. It breaks down all the walls that separates groups, schools, and athletes. It is competition in its purest form — you against everyone. Whether it was racing Sydney McLaughlin in the 400-meter dash at states or watching Alyssa Wilson break her discus state record (again), New Jersey sets a precedent unlike any other. I'm thrilled to be in such prestigious company."
Salisbury, who graduated from Hawthorne in 2016, won four outdoor Meet of Champions titles in the horizontal jumps. She was a 10-time State Group Meet Champion and the 2016 Passaic County Athlete of the Year. She displayed nearly unparalleled dominance in the horizontal jumps, becoming one of only two women in Garden State history to mint gold in both the long jump and triple jump twice at the New Jersey State Meet of Champions. Salisbury set the Passaic County long jump record with a flight of 20 feet.Â
A versatile athlete, her prowess extended to the track. During her senior year, she was the state runner-up in the indoor 55-meter dash and outdoor 100-meter dash. She ranked second in Passaic County history in the 100-meter dash.Â
In March, she was inducted as a member of Hawthorne High School's inaugural Hall of Fame class. Impressively, Salisbury was the most recently graduated member. The distinction came as little surprise, as Ultimate Track Training once described her as "possibly the best jumper/sprinter in state history."
"I'm very grateful for my hometown," Salisbury said. "My desire to be a coach started there."
Salisbury's collegiate career rewrote the Bucknell top ten lists. She graduated holding four school records. Salisbury was a three-time Patriot League champion and eight-time All-League member. She scored 139 points (72 indoor, 67 outdoor) at Patriot League Championships despite losing her senior outdoor championship season to the COVID-19 pandemic.Â
Salisbury heeded Bucknell's summons and returned in October 2024 to serve as the jumps/multi coach. Under her guidance, Jeffrey Cianfrocca and CJ Simbiri have won silver medals at the Patriot League Indoor Championships and earned Second Team All-Patriot League honors, while numerous Bison have climbed into Bucknell's all-time top-10 lists.
